Forums - Sales Discussion - At what price would YOU buy a PS3?

Thing is, Sony IS pushing something on me. They expect me to buy a Blu-Ray player when it has show little to no use for the current gen in gaming. One can attempt to argue it's use when the disc space is needed for future games...but we are no were near that level today, so the point is moot.

I'm about gaming. If Sony really was interested in me as a gamer, and not someone building their chances at winning the format war, they would have let me buy a PS3 without the Blu-Ray. As I've stated before, obviously Blu-Ray was more important to Sony than gaming as a whole.

... no need to argue anything.

Kojima will need a dual layer 50 gig BR disk for MGS4, thats a FACT.

same way you are crying about BR, people pissed and whined about PS2s dvd and PS1s cd..... then reality kicked in and proved Sony made the right choice.

I will never purchase one from Sony, as I want them to get as little of my money as possible.

Simply due to the fact that their desires for gamers to be the under-laborers for them to try and make headway in other markets outside of gaming really gets me angry.

Not to mention the fact that their other two consoles have been the worst quality hardware I have ever owned.

I'm the exact same way.

Since I want to break into the entertainment industry I have no need or want to help Sony in any way. Sony is a monopoly that squezes hundreds of companies out of buisness each year. Sonyhas film companies and music companies whipped complete and utter controll over them. If a company doesn't do what Sony wants SOny buys or runs them into the ground. MGM , Columbia just to name two of the companies Sony took over.

If you research Sony at all you will realize Sony does everything. Sony owns power plants and runs electricity companies , Sony makes toilets , Sony sells produce and owns shares in numerous food companies, Sony does weapons contracts and runs chemical plants. Sony is trying to make robot's virtual reality , their trying to enter the PC industry so they can dominate and take over that too.

Every day I walk past hundreds if not thousands of Sony products, everywhere I look Sony has their dirty little label. I look at my batteries I look at my TV, my DVD player I look at my movies , A division of Sony , Sony Entertainment , Sony..... They are a disease that spreads and spreads and spreads a company that prides itself at complete corporate dominance.

Most huge companies have to invest in other forms of business beyond what they are commonly know for. Typically this happens when a huge company hits a rut in regards to expanding markets or picking up market share.

Hence why GM got caught years back investing in porno. XD

Thats true but Sony wasn't in any rut, I know its smart buisness tactics but I believe in fair buisness practises and seeing Sony's more recent acts against some of the worlds biggest companies scares me. When BluRay launched their was talk all over of Sony whipping studios and even some of the worlds largest film makers stating that Sony would through its whole force behind BluRay and anybody who didn't join them would be left in the dust.

If you know much about the film and Music industry you realize right aways that the threat holds alot of water. Sony owns MGM , Columbia , TriStar on top of Sony Entertainment and the dozens of other film companies Sony owns. take the time to look over today's theater's look at whats playing and see just how many of those films are so way connected or made by Sony. It would be suicide for any film publisher to stand up to Sony.

Then when you account Sony's other investments way out of thewir field you notice that Sony holds positions of power throughout Japan. Sony works with the governments of both Japan and the US developement and research of technology. Sony holds the power in Japan owning its major electricity company it runs the toilets.

Simply investing a couple other fields is one thing but Sony doesn't just invest they come in and destroy anyone who opposses them. I dare you to look at just how many companies Sony owns or holds dominant shares in when I did a school project a few years ago I had a count around 70 everywhere from produce to chemical's and biological research firms. Sony is out to dominate and that mentality has scared the crap out of me and many people m sure share that same fear!

-Hus-,

Is this from that interview a several weeks back? It should be mentioned that the quote is taken out of context.

Here's the actual quote: "You may hear Blu-ray is huge, gigantic, 20 GB or so, but that's not really that big to us. One basic [gameplay] with HD visual and 5.1 sound takes up so much space that the capacity will become too small in no time."

To me, it sounds as if though he's saying that if he were to choose to go full out HD cinematics and 5.1 sound, that Blu-ray still wouldn't be enough. I think he's saying that it's a step towards full HD gaming, but it's not a big enough step.

Afterwards, he goes on to say the following: "We're not the ones who are saying we want HD. I'm not interested, myself, about HD at all. MGS games tend not to care about how clean the screen looks...we deliberately make the graphics look dirtier to give the atmosphere more life."

If I remember correctly, MGS4 is only going to be 1080p per Sony's request. MGS4 on a dual-layer Blu-Ray disc? I doubt it

I refuse to buy any console until it is in the $199-$299 range ...

I only am interested in these devices as gaming machines so if they're pushing other features (DVD playback, Home Theater Extender, etc.) at a higher price they're only limiting the appeal of the device for me.

Also at $99 I will buy pretty much any system ...

Hey, Samsung is building the Burj Dubai in... Dubai. Dont buy Samsung stuff either. So since the top quality TVs are out of the way. Hey, let's just never buy electronics stuff since we hate companies that dont do 1 thing. Infact. Let's grow our own food, because chances are you buy food from a produce store... that sells something other than produce. You buy meat from a store that sells more than meat. You bought your computer at a store that sells more than computers. (A monitor is NOT a computer) You bought your keyboard at a keyboard store... where they sell NOTHING but keyboards. Every company in the world builds more than 1 thing. (almost every, except the really really small ones)

In in refrence to Burj Dubai.

http://www.burjdubai.com/

go to 'Gallery and Press' then click on 'Construction Updates' then click on '2007' and then look at the picture that came up. BUHAHAHAHAHHA that is the power of SAMSUNG!!! The people who made my TV! Just another one of their products.

Just courious. You would buy a BluRay player for your TV for 800$ and buy a PS3 for 300$, but you wouldnt buy a PS3 WITH BluRay player for 600$? The Wii can surf the web. Sell it quick! It multi-tasks!

I really want a ps3 but its too expensive for me ill probably get one when it drops to 500 dollars where i live or get one online when it drops to 500 including international shipping (so prob 450), the later more likely since US seems to get price drops first and generaly cheaper consoles anywhere other then japan

This was a real hard question, because even if it was below Wii just now in price I wouldn't buy it. Because the games I would probarbly want to buy to PS3 hasn't arrived yet. But the max I want to pay for any consol is 3000 SEK, and that is according to me expensive.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

As there is no price cut in sight... I will pay 2399 PLN ~ 600 € ~ 800$
