454,99$ haha

Okay thats pretty good. Manufacturing must have gotten easier for them. But I'll bet that an actual computer internal Blu-ray drive probably cost around 700 or 800. USD

I'd pay $300, maybe $400 if they had as many good games as the 360 does now. So, maybe next year I'll buy one. I will not pay $600 for a gaming machine. I can afford it, I just don't like throwing away my money like that. There is plenty on the 360 to keep me interested (in fact, over the next 8 months, I really prefer the 360 lineup) and maybe in 2008 or 2009, I'll spring for a cheaper PS3. As it stands now, LittleBigPlanet is the only game that really interests me. Lair doesn't do it for me and I can play any number of games just like R:FOM on the 360, and quite a few of them look better.

I don't want to buy it now maybe later Maybe but very unlikly I will not get an HDTV this generation And BR and HD DVD will probely never actully win before a new and better format is out the only game that actully intrest me are FF series for now so I will probely only pay 199 USD

I'd buy a PS3 at the current price point if there were a decent selection of reasonably-priced (i.e. "greatest hits") games for it. I've gotten plenty of value out of the PS2 on that basis. But the library just isn't there yet, and PS3 sales so far may mean that the library never achieves that level.

I think it's safe to say, even at this point early in the generation, that the PS3 will never achieve the PS2's spectacular library of games. Japan is almost single-handedly ensuring that.

Please please please point me out to a site or a place that has a 500$ blu-ray drive. I have to see that with my very own eyes.

In fact, Pioneer is about to launch a BR Reader at 299 $ !

Many here in France are experiencing a nice PC HD-DVD reader for 199

Only because a pc's drive is more compact and uses different technologies, thus, it will cost more to build, just like a laptop costs more than a desktop. The PS3 has the same drive as the stand alone units, not the 5.25" pc internal drives.

What price would I pay for a PS3?

Today - $50.... I don't have an HDTV, so no need for the Blu Ray and none of the games currently out are worth buying. So I would use it as a $50 toaster or foreman grill.

But that could change, Blu Ray could become the dominant format, and killer "exclusive" apps might come out for the PS3.... but until then I wouldn't spend more then $50 on it.

I'll buy a PS3 at whatever price it is later this summer when the games I want come out. :) Chances are it will be $600, so that is what I'll pay.
