It seems the horse was too high.

MS stuffed the channels, mostly because retailers ordered based on Black FRiday numbers. Can;t blame them, I never expected anything less than 2.5 million. And every console is down.

You really do show yourself up sometimes psrock, years gone you mock people for claiming Sony stuff the channels, but the first opportunity you get to say the same about MS and you're in there like a flash.

There's a big difference in people claiming Sony stuffed the channel every quarter for a year or so and people claiming MS stuffed for one.  A holiday quarter, at that.  Especially when the 360's largest region's sales don't seem to back up its 66+ million shipped.  Of course, it'll be Q1 til we know 100% sure, but previous year's sales don't seem to back the 360 having a huge jump of ~1 million units above normal in the last 3 months outside the US and UK.

There's really few other  explanation here Seece, unless the 360 had a miraculous  sales in the UK, where are all these extra consoles. The PS3 had other places to hide them, the 360 doesnt. Relax, stop being defensive and realize it was a simple miscalculation by the retailers. That's all.

Seece, after all your talk of people on the defensive recently, youre showing yourself up.

Eh I think all of us regulars are acting at least slightly defensive to all the recent news :P

I'm open to that conclusion, sure. But you're talking as if you have all the facts, which is exactly how Sony fans were acting before the 66m X360 comment.

You really don't know how well X360 has sold in any other regions and how effective MS's marketing has been, thismenitel is right about one thing, we're gonna have to wait until Q1 shipments to really determin this.

My comment still stands though, you're suppose to be one of the reasonable ones on the site. I'm not being defensive either, just find it absurd people are so keen for PS3 to have won, they call it so soon without even PS3 shipments, before the 66m figure and again, now.

I don't know what's going on but it's definitely entertaining.

Sometimes it is, but it also gets very tiring. The same stuff by the same people. Pointless lines drawn in the sand; people arguing things with no real numbers to back up anything, trying to take stabs at the other "side" whenever possible.

I'll concur with this.

Just way too many numbers flying around recently.  But, at least we are now starting to form the real picture.  It'll still be a few more months before all the pieces fall into place, though.  Anyway, have fun discussing, I'm off to bed.

I look at the PAL charts weekly, there is nothing, zero indication besides in the UK, the 360 was doing any better than any other year. As far I am concerned, the UK keeps the 360 close, nowhere else is it a force. And, I also think  Kinect is also overtracked by a huge number.

@OP:
You forgot the option "Ballmer stuffed the Xmas turkey with cocaine and had visions of Hello Kitty having sex with the Smurfs and strange mystic numbers"

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

I think it may be a little bit of all of them. But I don't understand your first explanation why is it highly unlikely that the Xbox 360 could be undertracked in europe and ps3 overtracked It's strange to me how the Ps3 all of a sudden started selling so well in Europe this year almost outselling the xbox 360 2 to 1 when in previous years it was virtually a tie. But all of  a sudden it just happens to be outselling the 360 2 to 1 isn't that strange then you see the numbers MS gave 66 million so it's obvious the 360 is undertracked in europe it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. It might be that MS stuffed the channels but seriously by that much it just doesn't make sense I guess will see when they release their numbers.

If I remember correctly the US was a PS country and now look it has changed it is possible seeing as no real numbers are given it's obviously not japan seeing how actual numbers are given out but for other countries no real number are given so it's not "unlikely" It's actually very likely.

If they come out and say 66.5 shipped, that's 3m on shelves, I just don't buy it, sorry, about the only company that could get away with stuffing that much is Apple.

Also we already have 2m Kinects on shelves ...
