The ps4 is coming sooner than 5 years, it's unavoidable. If SOny wants to compete with Microsoft and Nintendo they'll have to make a new console to match there's

They can make a new console and still support PS3. I'm hoping PS4 would have PS3 BC so it'll support both systems.

Five more years of what exactly? As a relevant machine on the market? No, hardly. In someone's ownership and in daily use? Probably, but most will have tired or moved on by then.

I think Kaz' words are being misconstrued by the author of the article.

10 year lifespan doesn't mean they're not going to release a console in a year or two.

I think the authors of the articles words are being misconstrued  by the authoir of this post.

"Suggesting...wont be replaced soon" doesnt mean they're not goin to release a console in a year or two.

That's just conjecture. Kaz never said any such thing, nor anything to suggest that he was even thinking that.

The PS2 is on the market 12 years after its release. The PS3 can manage ten. It will, of course, be upgraded. If MCV is to be believed, we'll see the PS4 for the first time at E3 this year, which suggests a launch some time in 2013. The consoles will co-exist for three years, which isn't unreasonable at all.

SONY denied that the PS4 will be at E3 in this same interview. It was actually the reason why he said "PS3 has 5 more years" because someone asked him if the PS4 would be unveiled at E3.
