whats better?

ps3 150 53.76%

gamecube 117 41.94%

too early to tell 12 4.30%

Total:279

The GameCube was the best third place console ever IMO.

Yes, it looks like it was designed by NeXT in the late 80's, and it does have a handle for God knows why, but it rocked big time. It should have sold at least some 40 million consoles. 80 million, in a perfect world.

Besides, the GC made lots of money overall even though it sold for like $99 like the second half of it's lifetime (bad move though - it probably backfired due to negative perception of value). Try to beat that with your PS3!

Sidenote: Pikmin 2, used, is currently $40, more expensive than God of War 3, Portal 2, and as expensive as GT5. And that is a retailer's price, so Nintendo has nothing to do with that,

I would have actually answered Gamecube to every single videogame system except the SNES.
Mario Kart: Double Dash is the best racing game ever, people disliked it because it changed their so loved formula.
The Pikmin games are the best RTS games of all time.
Paper Mario TTYD is brilliant, a really creative and fun RPG.
Luigi's Mansion was very unique, it is also one of my favorite games of all time, people hate becuase it was different.
Mario Party 6 and Mario Power Tennis were excellent spin-offs.
Gamecube has both Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker, both in my favorite games of all time.
Mario Sunshine wasn't perfect, but it was still okay.

There are a ton of amazing and underrated Gamecubve jewels, and as I said, Gamecube is my second favorite videogame system ever.

Also, to all the people here saying the PS3 is better as if it was a fact.

Opinions =/= Fatcs

And Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is also ultra expensive (I you find it).  Games that are no longer produced, that are also great; cost a lot because they are hard to find.

I played Twilight Princess and wind waker and they were horrible.  So I guess It is just a matter of opinion.

So wait...when we compare the wii and the 360 to the ps3, it's all to do with sales but when we compare the ps3 to the gamecube it's all about teH gameZ and personal taste?

The question here is "Which is better?" how come the ps3 is losing this one?

when you are comparing which console is better, its always about games. if you are talking about who won a console war, its strictly sales. i dont know how youre confusing the two.

Not confusing the two, I've seen countless topics where the question which is better crops up and it's always about sales and nothing else.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

The PS3 has brought a lot of new things to the table due to its peculiar situation. In the past, it was just about sales because the one with the most sales was the one that made the most money and often had the best games (I loved the 'Cube more than the PS2 but the PS2 had a better library.  I voted with my wallet).  In the PS3's particular case, it has great sales but not the best sales.  It sold more in a year but makes the least amount of money.  It has arguably the best games but it sells less software than its competitors.  The PS3 is a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in bacon.

So did the Gamecube's awesome first party (and actually pretty good third party) outdo Sony's awesome library?  Does the Gamecube's profit margin make up for its lackluster sales?  Like I posted before, it's in the eye of the beholder.  Personally, as a consumer I'd buy a PS3 over a Gamecube (though I prefer the Zelda games to anything on the PS3).  If I were a company, I'd rather have produced the money making/poorer selling Gamecube over a money devouring, popular PS3.  And strangely enough, I own probably three times as many Gamecube games as I do PS3 games (due largely in part to the fact that I bought most 3rd Party games for the Xbox 360).

Too many variables.

Who would want a GCN in 2012? Get a bc wii, so you can enjoy more games. Why limit yourself to just GCN games. As for ps3, it has more enjoyable games on a superior platform imo.

PS3 is much better than GC IMO, but I'm glad that guy got owned because I hate that kind of attitude.

Anyway, for the price of a PS3 you can get a GC and many awesome games, so although I think PS3's library is better, in the quality-price ratio a GC is a very attractive option.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

When we are going to look back 10 years from now, I doubt the PS3 will have many classics associated to it. The gamecube however, had lots of unique classics that are fantastic games today, and 10 years from now:

A small list:
Metroid Prime - a game so incredibly well designed, Retro will probably never make anything better.
Resident Evil (RE:make)
Resident Evil 4
Wind Waker - some flaws in design with too many fetch-quests, but by far the most beautiful Zelda game, and the graphics will never get dated
Pikmin
Viewtiful Joe - Henshin-a-go-go, baby!
F-Zero GX (a forgotten gem imo)
Eternal Darkness
Soul Calibur 2 (wipes the floor with the sequels)
Super Smash Bros Melee

I really dont see a lot of PS3 exclusive games that people will play 10 years from now, LBP maybe, people keep bringing up uncharted, but uncharted uses a game design that will make it hopelessly outdated 10 years from now (all games that try to be like movies get into this problem, they become dated incredibly quickly).

Just because a game is great right now, doesnt mean it will hold up in the future. Killzone? Please, nobody will play that in the future when there will be 9 million new FPSes that surpass it.

wow pushing someone to agree with you're tastes is now equal to making them open minded now

ah, standard dishonest distortion of somebody's message delivered in a sarcastic way.

i suddenly remember why i used to enjoy trolling this site so much.

but in the event that you are being honest in your misunderstanding of my post, i will inform you: i am not trying to get him to think gamecube is better than ps3. i am trying to get him to understand that there are a great many people out there who believe gamecube is better than the ps3. if he understands this, that is opening his mind to the fact that maybe gamecube isnt the piece of crap he thought it was.

see the difference?

everyone is going to have a preference for one thing over another and from my interpretation of the op you seem to have been offended by the guy's preference for the ps3 over the gamecube...

just like you're entitled to having your own preference for the gamecube he is entitled to his also

graphics ps3 obviously

online-ps3

profit -gamecube so far
sales -ps3
