So wait...when we compare the wii and the 360 to the ps3, it's all to do with sales but when we compare the ps3 to the gamecube it's all about teH gameZ and personal taste?

The question here is "Which is better?" how come the ps3 is losing this one?

when you are comparing which console is better, its always about games. if you are talking about who won a console war, its strictly sales. i dont know how youre confusing the two.

Not confusing the two, I've seen countless topics where the question which is better crops up and it's always about sales and nothing else.

The PS3 has brought a lot of new things to the table due to its peculiar situation. In the past, it was just about sales because the one with the most sales was the one that made the most money and often had the best games (I loved the 'Cube more than the PS2 but the PS2 had a better library.  I voted with my wallet).  In the PS3's particular case, it has great sales but not the best sales.  It sold more in a year but makes the least amount of money.  It has arguably the best games but it sells less software than its competitors.  The PS3 is a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in bacon.

So did the Gamecube's awesome first party (and actually pretty good third party) outdo Sony's awesome library?  Does the Gamecube's profit margin make up for its lackluster sales?  Like I posted before, it's in the eye of the beholder.  Personally, as a consumer I'd buy a PS3 over a Gamecube (though I prefer the Zelda games to anything on the PS3).  If I were a company, I'd rather have produced the money making/poorer selling Gamecube over a money devouring, popular PS3.  And strangely enough, I own probably three times as many Gamecube games as I do PS3 games (due largely in part to the fact that I bought most 3rd Party games for the Xbox 360).

Too many variables.
