In my order:
1) 4th
2) 6th
3) 5th

7) 1st

PSN: Saugeen-Uwo     Feel free to add me (put Vg Chartz as MSG)!

Nintendo Network ID: Saugeen-Uwo

4th and 5th on par. So many great, imaginative and innovative games. Also games of that period put the bais for modern gaming.

edit: also at the time developer were trying making games, instead of mimicking hollywood.

I'm going with the seventh, just because that's when I bought most of my games on my top 50 list, here's hoping the eighth is even better :)

The 5th Generation is in second place? Yuck! I voted for the 6th generation, all four consoles were fantastic.

Fourth Generation

When Nintendo last had incredible third party support, felt sorry for the Sega Genesis, but of course it was going to die since 90% of all the exclusives (third party) were on the SNES.

It is also the generation that spawned alot of new game series:

-Yoshi's Island
-Star Fox
-F-Zero
-Chrono series
-Tales Series
-Star Ocean

And made alot of other series revolutionized (Street Fighter, Final Fight, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, etc).

Runner up to the generations imo would be the 6th generation: PS2 is absolutely the best system of that generation and the only system that can be compared to the great SNES of the 4th gen.

Not true, Megadrive had a ton of exclusives.

I LOVE ICELAND!

For consoles only? Sixth gen.

Are you high? What's your excuse for having avoided the quality titles on the Genesis all the way into 2012? Here's a fun fact, the Genesis was only outsold by the SNES by 7 million units and at least part of that blame can be placed on SEGA rushing out the SEGA CD, 32X and Saturn long before Nintendo released the N64.

The 5th is my favourite by far, all my favourite games are from that generation. Closely followed by the 6th gen and then the 7th gen.

The 7th gen would be higher up if it wasn't for the high prices, SONY stumbling, obsession with online modes and the over saturation of first person shooters.

hard decision between 4th-6th i was alot of current posters age with the 5, so those three gens have the age advantage compared to the 7th, i more older now and its harder to be impressed/hyped then it was in my late teens and 20's

if i had to choose though it be 5th MGS1 Driver series and RE series where beast back then, followed closely with the 6th gen 3 gta's Resident evil CV, 4, NFS series and MGS3 where alot of enjoyment
