I feel the same way. I think Sony would have preferred to release the PS3 a few years later than it did. This would have allowed them to release the PS3 & Blu Ray at a much lower price. Like you said, they would have been fine with PS2 still selling gangbusters. The system would have espescially been selling more if its successor hadn't launched in 2006. I think if Sony would have been able to release the PS3 in 2007-2008, then they would have gotten off to a much better start and would have possibly been able to achieve PS1/PS2 level sales.

Unfortunately, Microsoft and their aggressive tactics and made it impossible for Sony to wait any longer than they did.

I don´t how to call it, good, sad or pathethic that more than 50% of the 360 sales every week came from America, I mean really poor sales in Japan and doing Ok in Europe.

It's doing OK in Europe? It's above the Wii and BARELY behind the 3DS.

It's doing good in Europe, and everywhere else except AP/MEA

If Sony bundles and does special holidays deals on Move and PS3s like they did this year, but keep the $249 price, then Sony will have a very strong holiday next year.

Kinda makes me think that maybe Sony did the price cut this year, so they can sit at this price for a few years, but put a new release game in a system package to add "value".

I think that Sony will drop the price by $50 again next year.

Cheapest 360 in Holiday 2008 was $299 (Price cut from $349 20GB). Nowadays you can get one for $200. That isn't 2008 price.

good lord, we can all pretend Microsoft hasn't actually cut the price "officially" but we all know they keep shuffleing their sku's around, coming out with the slim, adding larger hard drives, bundling Kinect, games, and all of that now is the same price, (or less depending on the bundle) than the 360 was in 08.

. but yeah no pricecut since 2008..

Pretty sure what he said, PS3 being the best-selling console of 2011, is true. (The "back on top" comment is probably just referring to the home consoles.)
