There's such a huge difference between holiday weeks and non-holiday weeks, it's like day and night. Anyway, back to PS3 outselling the other home consoles, and it will probably remain that way until the next holiday season or a 360 price cut.
PS3 ended 2011 as the best-selling home console for the first time, congrats. And the 360 was so close to actually outselling PS3, I didn't think MS would close the gap this much.
With both HD consoles just peaking, I wonder when MS and Sony will launch their next-gen consoles. Actually, I think that they could both peak yet again if they have a cut this year.
This generation is so weird, it's funny how the Wii was dominating the market while the HD consoles were selling slow, and 6 years later the HD consoles are the ones that are most popular. I think PS3 and 360 have been slower than usual to achieve their potential because many people were still not ready for HD in 2005. Also, I think this generation started a tad early, as the PS2 was still selling gangbusters until 2007-8 and many people were not ready to transition to the next gen.
I honestly believe that if it wasn't for WiiU's launch this year (and if Nintendo had supported Wii properly), this generation could have gone on until 2015. I don't know how WiiU will affect MS and Sony's plans though, I'm really curious to see how it pans out. It could have a huge effect or no effect at all on current HD console sales.
