Everyone knew the 3DS was overpriced, the price cut didnt really hurt Nintendos earnings as much as, for instance, ps3 price cuts.

You obviously didnt read the whole post.

"Wii didnt have to steal from their own sales to have this kind of success. What I mean is DS would have pull out extremely good numbers this christmas if it wasnt for the 3DS at that price point. A big part of those 3DS sales could have been DS sales. Great success nonetheless, but not comparable to Wii."

What about reading my whole post? It truly cant be compare to the Wii, but that doesnt mean 3DS isnt a success, its a big success.

Price cut is a company strategy... stop naming price cut out of everything.... they have tried with a higher price and it did not work so they have reduce it....

not everything that has a price cut ends up to perform so well.

What do you mean by that? If the 3DS lost 100 dollars and the PS3 lost 100 dollars wouldn't that hurt both companies the same? Unless one was already making a huge profit before the cut?


That's the point one was, 3DS now is being sold at no profit apparently (in other words the price now is the cost to manufacture it) while PS3 was sold at a lost from the start and had further price cuts.

"More than 4,000,000 in the U.S. in 2011", meaning it is anywhere between 4M-4.5M. I am guessing this since Nintendo made a point to state the Wii sold "more than 4.5M in the U.S. in 2011".

VGChartz has 3DS listed at 4.79M sold in the U.S. with 1 more week of sales to go. We have it at 681k for last week, so I would expect at least 150-200k this week right?

3DS could be ~400-500k overtracked in the U.S., with it even possibly hitting ~700k.

VGChartz also may end up not being on track in Europe and Asia as well.

 

 

 

Things should be really interesting when Nintendo released those EMEAA numbers.
