Forums - Nintendo - So... is my 3DS broken =( ?

Hey guys,

after opening my Giftbox containing a 3DS, i was happy like a child, and i soon started playing. then, 3 days (and 4 hours of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 and pretty much an hour of Mii creation) later, the system started making a weird, squierking noise when i pushed buttons. And yes, it was quite awful. then i went to the retailer i bought it from, and he gave me another 3DS in exchange.

When i was back home, i put the device into the docking station, praying to heaven not to make that noise this time, and when it was done charging, i actually tried to force the noise... but nothing. silent like a pro. BUT... something ruined my happyness... it was a wobbing upper screen... really, that thing has a big ammount of space, and if i do move the Handheld faster then slow motion, i feel movement up there... it isnt enough to ruin the 3D image, but when changing positions (slowly, of course.. from like laying to sitting), it really move's with meh.. it reallylooks like this;

.. So.. back to the retailer again, or sending it to nintendo for repair? Or should i just deal with it (Since it seems to be a common problem)?

Didn't even know 3DS had problems, but go back to the retailer. It seems like a small issue, so if you want you can live with it, if your third 3DS has that problem. (the second problem).

Nintendo keep it a little loose so the hinge won't crack in break like the oringal ds phat

I think that was more a DS lite problem. I am not sure. It wasn't a major issue, but it was one of the few notable problems about DS.

Yep, it was the DSLite that had the hinge problem. The DSPhat was a monster... nothing could destroy that beast haha.

As for the "loose" hinge, my 3DS (launch day) has a little movement when I move it around. Not enough to affect anything, but it is noticable. My sister's 3DS (got it for Christmas) is much sturdier.

So for the OP: If you can go and replace it with a new one, but if you can't then it's not really a big deal.

@Smeags: it would be far less annoying if i only knew that this wouldnt mean that my 3DS goes apeshit after a year, since i saw (a very few) DSLite's, that really lost all hold, the top screen was opened just by holding it upside down and all..

i think i try and replace it one last time tomorrow, if they say like they'll send it in, i'll keep it and do it myself if it goes worse, .. but yeah, i hope i can just get one that works fine., because this really scare's me. ^^" (Had a phat DS, i gave it to my brother; and i agree, this thing hit the ground more than once in his life, and the beast just ask's if someone tickled him lol!)

I agree with you about the DS Phat, or as I used to call it "The Nintendo Tank".

I remember one day grabbing my jacket from the car through the open window not knowing my DS Tank was in the jacket. Anyways, when I yanked hard on the jacket the DS flew out of the pocket, like 10-15 feet into the air and came crashing down the pavement.

Of course the most it endured was a few scratches.

Now that thing was quility built.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

@euphoria: Nintankdo DS? =D

@topic: Went to the retailer just some minutes ago... and he showed me the 3DS' they have locked behind showcases (
while i respect the dood (since i agree; they would have to exchange like every 3rd 3DS sold) , i cant help myself but to hate Nintendo, from the bottom of my heart right now. except for some Games, the Wii was a dissapointment. (and its Nintendo's fault, the big three have to take care of developers), and now the 3DS seems to have some kind of common manufacturing inconsistency too... really Nintendo, i fucking hate you. (I'll keep the 3DS for now, but yes, if something happens, i'll spam Nintendo like shit,.)
