Forums - Sony - PS3 temperature Question

I recently bought a PS3 and I'm concerned about its temperature, is not like is burning but is defintly heating more than my other consoles, I heard that this is normal. When I stop playing it leaves the ground warm, again is not burning but still. After a gaming session I put it in a compartment, just like in this photo.

Is that a good place to put it? I mean, is somehow small and closed. Usually I keep my gaming systems in their boxes to protect them from dust but I can't do that with the PS3 so I cover it with a shirt or something.

After playing How long should I  wait to put my PS3 there and then cover ir with something?  Should I buy a fan to prevent overheating?

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Hear those are better at any heating issue that might have existed for the earlier models. So I can't really give decent advice, but it shouldn't be a problem. However if you want you can always give it more airflow.

Add: I always have it standing up (You could put it near the TV standing up), but I have the older model. Also did you really write Rare sucks?

its normal and since its winter the risk of overheating is low.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Don't keep it in a closed environment. Even the slims, if you want to take top care of your PS3 keep it in the open.
Never put them in boxes.

Temperature shouldn't be much of a problem. As long as you play them in an open environment and keep it below the tv like that after you game, you are good to go. At least that's what I think.

No, I wrote that in the image not in the real wall haha.

Mine gets pretty warm too. There is nothing strange about it.

The major thing is just to make sure it isn't in an enclosed space and has plenty of room to breathe when in use.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

I wouldn't worry unless the console is loud. I never had an overheating problem with my slim but my old 360 sounded like a jet taking off before it died. If the fans are constantly on full power then you should be worried.

I have both slims and I say you shouldnt worry

Yay!!!
