You're pretty new here, so just wait til the next financials are released. I'm not seriously suggesting it's all 360 fans, but its definitely more than one.

I for one dont think anyone stuffs the channels. How people think Sony, MS, Nintendo force retailers to order is beyond me. Retailers order when they need product, yes they may be incented to purchase extra based on a deal made by the manufacturer. Still no product is shipped that retailers dont think helps with the bottom line and cash flow.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Exactly. I mean you can get away with maybe one quarter of stuffing the channel using special offers. But after that, stores are not going to have thousands upond thousands of your product just laying around in their warehouses, just so you can have an impressive shipment number.

So why are Sony fans certain that Sony will outship the 360 when this quarter the 360 will have outsold the PS3 by over 1 million units?

Sony is over their prediction for 15 million shipped... so in the first two quarters they shipped less than 2010... so the last two they needs ship more than 2010... 7 million for Q3 2011 is a good guess (I can't see 360 shipping more than 7 million this quarter).
My maths: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4343728
To be "Slightly Ahead" their prediction they need do ship over 7 million this quarter.

That would due to undertracking. We have pretty good checks in place for the places the 360 sells well (and not well for Japan) with NPD and Media Create. I believe there is also a tracking service that includes the UK, though I could be wrong. With the PS3, however, there isn't such a service for some of the regions it sells well in, EMEAA. So, VGC has to use shipment data to adjust its numbers for those territories. Many PS3 fans feel that when shipment numbers come out it will show the PS3 is again undertracked in those regions. It seems like it usually is during the holiday season. At least for the few years I've been here.
Global software numbers are finally up.
Next week Skyrim may pass up Battlefield 3's total sales on the 360, Forza 4 is doing pretty good (will be close to 2 million by the end of the year)
At this point I think Skyrim on the 360 has a slight chance to sell more than the total sales of Oblivion which stands at 7-8 million + for all platforms it is on. Especially since it looks like Skyrim will have great legs throughout the next year.
IT'S OVER 7 MILLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIION!!!
GT5 sold 58,876 units this week.
