Based on last year, last week, US and UK numbers I think this is a good estimate for this week.

Week end Dec 3 2010 2011
Console PS3 360 PS3 360
Total 619,455 665,244 588,757 679,966 -91,209
America 210,044 400,101 230,898 483,300 -252,402
Japan 40,153 3,693 39,918 1,631 38,287
Total Others 369,258 261,450 317,941 195,035 122,906

Week end Dec 10 2010   2011
Console PS3 360 PS3 360
Total 696,487 771,313 671,268 715k 837,113 -120,845
America 240,038 475,200 273,060 615,887 -342,827
Japan 42,254 3,812 42,000 2,000 40,000
Total Others 414,195 292,301 356,208 400k 219,226 136,982

360 should knock another 165K off the PS3 lead.  The PS3 lead should be about 780K. Was 806K last week, but 133K in adjustments (based on NPD) moved it to 940K before this week.

Hummmmm... I think your estimate is off in Total Others.

PS3 will do near 400k.

I'm bad at 360 prediction... so just talking about PS3.

Seems that PS3 price cut wasn't really useful at all.

It is up 20% YoY in US... semms like the price cut done right.

Awesome 360 numbers again... but then its the holidays, thats how it is.

anyone know how to do YOY easily now? without having to click backwards 52 times?

Just looked and there is a much quicker, if still a little awkward, way of doing it.

Look at the URL for the numbers page http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40881/Global/ (<3rd dec 2011)the number represents the 'date' and by subtracting 7 from the number it goes back a week, http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40874/Global/ (<26th Nov 2011).

Edit: just noticed the new 'Chart Index' right after posting :(

Uncharted 3 adjusted up about 200,000 in the running total, but the global total remains identical when it should be around 2.4m-ish?

PS3 adjusted up and once Europe and Japan are up the YTD gap should be back to 1.1-1.2m, with two weeks left before xmas, hmmm... Did MS mention anything about being no.1 WW this year in their last NPD PR? I think it's still possible but it has become more unlikely now. Perhaps shipped numbers.

Anyway, if USA numbers were this off who knows how EMEAA numbers will be, the holiday period is crazy. So we won't know for sure until the big 3 release their quarterly numbers I think.

the voice of reason. have you considered changing your name? anyway, what are you expecting for Europe?

I am not expecting anything in particular tbh. It's just that if they can be tens of thousands of units off in their best tracked region, the rest could potentially be very off. Usually the PS3 is the most undertracked one in EMEAA, though that doesn't necessarily mean it'll also be the case this time.

And thanks guys for the replys to my question.

yea expect adjustments(even made some myself lol) (PS3 mainly) aswell. if MS is going to win this yr., then there last shot is Christmas wk., cause right nw it doesn't seem doable.  you've made sense since your first post, so why wouldn't anyone reply to you lol?

keep trainning them, cause there's more work to be done lol.

After this week the PS3 lead will be under 800K. Each week in Americas the difference between the PS3 and the 360 grows and far more than what happens elsewhere. Week of Dec 3rd the 360 gained 91K, week of Dec 10th it looks like it will gain 165K.  Last year during those same weeks the 360 gained 45K and 75K respectively.  The following two weeks last year the 360 gained 163K and 182K.  At the same rate of growth this year the 360 would gain enough to be just about tied at the end of Christmas week.  It will come down to New Years week and the special deals available for the 360 and the PS3 that week.  I fully expect MS to try and go out the year with a huge bang.

The pace of sales acceleration in the Americas is far greater. Between week after Black Friday week and Christmas week last year sales in Americas basically doubled. The rest of the world about 25% growth. This favors the 360 greatly.

Yeap... but I can't see 360 taking advantage of the 800k in two weeks.

Remeber the last week of the year PS3 sold more than 360 in the lastest years.

PS3 will be the #1 consoles this year (THE FIRST TIME IN THIS GENERATION).

Just increasing it at the same rate as last year.

I know but this week had bundles and promotions for PS3 in Europe... the software and hardware is UP in UK due that... so I expected the same in others countries.

7-12% over your numbers.

Damn Skyrim is doing just incredible! It might be able to even break 10 million in lifetime sales if it keeps this up.

If Halo CEA continues to sell this mehishly than it might not even surpass God of War Collections (which is the highest selling remake to my knowledge)

And lastly the 360 continues to surprise me with it's incredible sales in the US. Although I think its almost certain that it won't pass the PS3 yearly sales now..it would have to pull in just ridiculous numbers during the week before Christmas.

Edit: BTW what are the YOY figures for this week?   NVM.

kowenicki said:
ahhh, found it.

USA YOY

360 UP 133,956 or UP 33%
PS3 UP 40,498 or UP 20%
Wii DOWN 196,542 or DOWN 34%

:)

Look at those UK Skyrim numbers!

It was being sold at around half price all week, Uncharted was discounted slightly less as well. So don't get TOO excited
