Everyone seems to be pointing to the awful Zelda games that we're supposed to pretend to have forgotten about, but what about Mario Sunshine? The voice acting in that is terrible as well, and that was actually a Nintendo game.

I didn't think the voice acting was that bad. Everyone sounded like the sound bites that come from the other games.

I'm sorry, but Princess Peach was downright irritating in that game.

Also, I don't know about Link talking, but I do think that the other characters in the Zelda games should speak.

Dude have never heard Peach's voice? Peach has had the same voice actor since 1999. It's just the in that game she said a full sentence instead of just "Maaaarrrriiiioooooo!"

Exactly my point.  The more words, the more harm done to my ears.

I also agree. I'm done reading all this shit as it goes too slow for me.

I want everyone else talking with simple response options. Link needs to be silent or have a mic to listen to me.

This has potential if voice recognition technology really improves. Right now, even Microsoft's Speech-To-Text software on windows 7 sucks.

Where MS has failed Google and Apple have greatly suceeded. Additionally, win7 may not be all that but Kinect's works ok and I'm sure win8 will be good.

is there a free google voice recognition software I can use on my windows PC? And what about Apples own for my iPhone? And if you've used both, which do you find better?

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

I think its too late for them to get voices. It might be ok if other people in the world can talk while Link or Mario stay silent (like GTA3). It's just been so many years of them not having a voice, I don't see it going well.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

I had no problem with the characterization and voice work in Metroid Other M. I liked her being human rather than just a suit of armor with no fear.

I loved the Skyward Sword, but it's not perfect. There are three things I would change.
1. The option for classic controls.
2. Less backtracking, more environments, ie add a snow level.
3. Add voices.
I don't need Link to talk, but everyone else should. Gordon Freemon never talks but because everyone else does you end up with a far more convincing world than if they didn't.

The problem is that fans are never happy. They all have their ideas of how things should be and any deviation is a unforgivable sin. Nintendo can't make everyone happy. If they keep it all the same people complain it's not different. If they change it people complain that it's different.

Nintendo should just always use new technology to enhance the their games. We are no longer living in the silent gaming era so games should be silent. It doesn't mean every game should be an interactive movie like Uncharted, but all games should use their medium's technology to its fullest.

The game would have to have been fundamentally redesigned to achieve that, and then what would we have had?

Google Voice is primarily used in smartphones... however, Chrome browser has a lot of apps that can be used so its possible there might be an app you can download to use for various PC related stuff.

For apple I was referring to Siri and it works pretty well. I think for straight dictation, Siri and GV work about the same, though for natural language understanding, Siri is better at the moment.

I use GV for a lot on my phone from texts, emails, notes, search, maps, navigation, calling, etc and after you've used it for a little while it becomes very accurate.

Hope that helps.

I've been thinking about how it would be if Zelda and other characters talk and at first i could not imagine Zelda speaking at all. it sounded wrong but she sang in SS and she had a beautiful voice that i would like to hear in actual words that i can understand.

if done right yes but pleas Link stays silent!

i read an article on Zeldainformer.com (I think) a couple of weeks ago about VO in Zelda and Aunoma said it would be weird if everybody spoke except link. i don't know what to think of this but i wouldn't mind if they kept text but keep them shorter as i always like to get back in the action again. i hate long cut-scenes and too much text!

Now i was not opposed to Samus' voice acting, but i was not, on the whole, opposed to her portrayal therein. I have always imagined her as she was portrayed, reflective and aware of the enormity that's going on around her

The plot itself i had issue with, but her role in particular was not poor

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It already takes too long for mainline Zelda games to arrive WITHOUT voice acting.
