Forums - Nintendo - Do gamers want voice acting in Nintendo made games? Do we know what we want?

I really liked listening Zelda singing in SS in an invented language. I wouldn't mind if all characters (except Link) can talk like that, in a completely new language like Elf in Lord of the Rings for example.

I would love it. When I play Mario games (Since I don't play Metroid or Zelda games), I know I'm playing him, It's not a role playing game so for me, I want the character to come with a full personality, voices and all. If I played the other two franchises, I would also find it better if Link and Samus were to have voices. It helps me bond with the character, cause in adventure/action games, I'm not trying to be the hero, I want to bond with the hero...as weird as that sounds o_o

If they were RPG's however, silent is fine.

That's the dumbest thing I've seen all week. And that's saying something, when yesterday, I saw this:

OT: Absolutely, so long as they get done right.

Best thing I've seen all week!!

A game like Zelda would benefit from voice acting, but I doubt Nintendo would do it after the whole Samus debacle. Zelda's story would go great with voice acting. Mario on the other hand...

I doubt Mario would do well with full voice acting because the Mario games aren't story driven. Just small vignettes like they do now will do.

I would like voice acting in Zelda (Link should remain silent) but I want them to talk some weird jibberish like Midna does in Twilight Princess instead of English. Nintendo should hire some LotR nerds or something and have them construct different languages for the Hyrulian races. That would be cool me thinks.

Metroid should have full voice acting imo, the question here is whether or not we need any dialogue to begin with.

Actually I think everyone should have voice acting except Link, but really Zelda should evolve to that!

WHY?!

I absolutely think the Zelda games need voice acting. I never felt I was the hero in Zelda, I never felt I was Link. I always viewed him as his own character, and never seen myself as him. Should they make him talk? I'd personally like to see him become his own character, but even if they choose not to make Link have a voice, the rest of the cast need to have one.

Mario games, on the other hand, don't need to speak. Their gibberish is what give them their charm.

As for Metroid, yeah voice acting should be in it. I don't really think it needs it, though. The first two Metroid Prime games got away with it, and did fine. The third one and Other M was "eh" in that department, but it'd mostly depend how it'd play out.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

I still think nintendo characters I general dont need voices they convey enough about themselves through the games and it still allows the player freedom to interpret what the character is like
