I've heard good things ^

Yup, thats the one, its the best one, its also works on PC, perfect sound and perfect clarity and no noise, also has virtual 7.1 sorround sound for the best quality.

Are they comfortable?

Yes, i'm actually using one right now, and i forgot that i am wearing it.

but keep in mind that they don't work on 360 and Phones , just PS3 , PC  and amplifiers with USB slots if you want to rape your ears that is

Turtle Beach PX5... they don't come bettter then that..

What? you can't be serious

Astro a40

X41

Ear Force series

all these and more are better than PX5

-_-;

Edit : also the PS3 wireless headset is better than PX5, OP don't listen to Nikkom

LOL..  do you even know what you are talking about.. the PX5 is the top of the line of the Ear Force Series!!! and the X41 is for the Xbox360..
the PS3 wireless headset is pretty useless.. it's stereo cause a "virtual" surround setting is worthless.. get the PX5

Yes i know what i am talking about >_>

Astro a40 is so far the best one and it works with everything, but i don't recommend it for everyday PS3 use, since OP needs to change batteries and plug it into an external device, also its not Wireless, the PX5 is fully wireless i give you that.

also the virtual sound isn't useless, it works perfect on PS3 (since thats what OP wants it for), and since its for PS3 it doesn't need battery , it charges via usb just like the controller.

so for OP the PS3 one is best for him. (it also works for PC perfectly)

Edit: also forgot to add the Battery life, i use it more often than the rest for this, it can last the about 8 hours. the others last less, and you have to change batteries too, thus being not practical.

Edit again (seriously i'm testing them both right now ) : the PS3 one is clunky , all plastic-ish , so its not good if you are going to be throwing it around and stuff, but it makes it lightweight on your heard the others are less clunky but still clunky , they made them like this as a sacrifice for being lightweight.

PX5, cause it has 5.1 and 7.1 that will work with Blu-rays

I wish that dam new Razer Timat 7.1 would work for PS3 but it doesn't...WHY RAZER WHY??? WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A "TRUE" 7.1 HEADSET AND NOT MAKE IT PS3 COMPATIBLE FOR BLU-RAYS WHY!?!?!! IT MAKES NO SENSE!

I'd take the Astros any day before I'd even look at the TBs. Doesn't really matter though because neither one of them are in the OP's price range.

@Nikkom, unless the PX5's are rocking multiple drivers in each cup then as far as I know, they are a virtual surround headset. One driver in each cup simulates surround sound.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I use to official ps headset which is great. Better than the previous Motorolla I had. Ive used Plantronics too which is good but might be too steep a price imo.

iiieewww... virtual surround sound... stay away from that...

uhm..

for headsets a lot of experts say virtual surround sound is better than "real" surround sound (especially since the algorithms to emulate surround sounds with headsets have improved drastically) as the speakers/drivers for real 5.1 or 7.1 just have to be thaaaat much smaller

and smaller speakers are generally worse or atleast have to be manufactured with way more precision and quality (i.e. are way more expensive) in order to compete with lager speakers

btw the PX5 is a virtual surround sound headset, it only has 1 driver per ear

Nikkom hating on all things Sony. No change there. As lafiel stated above, The larger speakers that emulate the surround sound effect are almost as good as The top range True surround ones. The price of the True surround headsets are crazy too. I mean, the improvement (Slight) in audio quality is no where near justifable when the asking price is THAT much more.
