Forums - Sony - The Vita's pre-orders are lacking! Is this going to be a problem for Sony?

I think Vita ruined it with the memory cards... and I also don't think there are any must-haves (just like 3DS when it launched). And with the MH series moving to the 3DS, I think the Japanese audience will wait and see what happens with the Vita

Agreed, but they would have earlier ruined it with a 299$ to 349$ SD compatible price point. It looks like they offer the Vita at 249$ because of the high mark up on those cards.

But the games require the card which is horrible. Plus as most have said, 16-32 GB are minimum requirements since save file is not on the game card!

And well I ain't that bothered because their was only one reason I would've bought a Vita for, and that reason was Monster Hunter. Capcom made it much easier for me :P

Thats pure propanganda, lol. Save file requires very low amount of space. On 1 GB you can have hundreads of them. More then 4 GB is only needed if you intend to purchase your game digitally.

Personally im buying a 32 GB because I will put dozens of mp4 files, hundreads of mp3 files. Ill also purchase most games digitally as well as apps. If "most people" here said they would purchase a 16-32 GB (which I doubt, source?), they want to do the same kind of utilisation I will do. If you purchase games at retail and want to use solely as a gaming system you will never even fill 4 GB.

So basically it's the Vita's turn to get mocked just like the 3DS was mocked by sony fanboys for the past 6 months?

Uh, no. It will only make you feel better for a short while, then you will feel dirty.

OT - I am still not convinced that there is going to be any problem with Vita launch sales. While it may happen, none of the data so far gives any indication in that regard.

As to big games that could entice people to buy the system, there is a Tales game coming January or February 2012, no?

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

The Vita certainly has both tons of good games lined up (which is better than a polarizing library of few mega block busters games and shovelware, see Wii and 3DS) and hardware complimented by excellent controller inputs (topped off with network functionality that surpasses even the PS3).

I think the only real issue for the Vita (pertaining to sales) is consumer awareness. They need an effective marketing campaign that gets results (I don't care if the marketing is entertaining or not, I am already buying it).

What that would entail, I really don't know because I personally think the Vita should be set to sell 100m+ already (and perhaps it is).

some misconception in the thread

1. 26 launch games include free titles as well as a couple apps (pico pico, media players etc). Also, if there is one must have game stands out from the pack, it would have the majority of the early adapters to pre-order it. ON one hand, you can say the low pre-order number is caused by wide selections of launch titles but on the other hand, you can also say that there is no killer title.

2. 70 more titles in the coming months after launch. Based on the schedule already released up to end of March, I could say in confidence PSV won't have 96 titles released in Japan 6 months after launch.

3. A lot of users choose DD which is why less preorder was placed. The same reason was brought up whenever a PSP or PS title failed to meet expectations based on MC/Famitsu numbers. Since no numbers were ever released, there is no way to prove who is right. However, based on how big used game market is in Japan, it's hard to see DD has a big market there.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

The vita is fine, and is in miles better position than the 3ds was during its launch. The memory card is the only thing as far as I am know that can be considered as a negative point. The no. of games and their quality is astonishing, LBP and Uncharted launch; you guys must be smoking something to say its a bad lineup.

It doesn't need to do as well as the PS2/DS to be considered as successful, just saying.
