You can a more powerful PC than Vita or PS3 for that price.

I you buy a home pc without screen (if you already own it), then you will easily find more powerful. Vita has only 512 Mo RAM and its processors are average.

All console hardware is outdated, even to current low prices PC. But you would not be abel to play the very last PC games with that.

I've got a pretty good laptop for most other things, and I use my PS3 as the sort of media centre. The PC would be mostly for gaming, but you're right, I could use it for other stuff anyway and upgrade it over time. Thing is, I'm a huge fan of Sony franchises so the next thing I'll be saving up for is most likely PS4. So the PC will remain the same for at least another 2 years. 

But next year seems to be PCs best year in ages so I could buy a lot more games for instead of just playing the ones I already have...   decisions, decisions...

Yeah It should be enough to run them at medium - high settings nicely.

Unless I start shitting money, I'll never be able to buy a PC for that much.

A good pc is always good to have, it literally does everything. The only problem i see here is that you dont really want to get into high end gaming if you dont want to put the time in it. I find pc enthusiasts and high end pc gamers are usually the same guy. This is a good thing for them because they kinda go together, they can also handle the fast progression the pc industry goes through. And considering you not very big on PC gaming i say you pass on the pc.

A big thing going in the favour of the VITA is that you like those franchises....and they all seem to be heading to the console at launch or atleast close to launch. I find the psv price to be okay, providing you slowly buy the extras over time instead of all at once...which could turn out very costly.

My suggestion would be to get both. You can get a very capable pc these days for quite cheap provided you built it yourself, which is not that hard if you have friends to help or if you have some tech savy . This way you can get the pc games you want and play it at good graphical levels, as well as the PSV :). i guess this all depends on how much youve saved up...

Definitely the PC. Since you have one already, I would recommend just upgrading it, but even if you want a new one, you can salvage some parts of your old one.

If you don't want to build it yourself, get it from a custom PC website. Do not, under any circumstances, buy a branded gaming PC, and DEFINITELY do not buy a gaming laptop.

It really depends on the state of your current PC and how good you want your new PC. An i3 is not what you'd expect a person building a gaming PC in 2011 to buy.

And we'll probably be seeing Civ 6 and Tropico 5 announcements by the middle of next year.

But if that'll provide a significant improvement over your current build, then I say go for it. Or save up for several more months and go a bit higher end.

I very much want a Vita, but I'd only get one if I already had a decent PC. Thankfully I do.
