It will dominate the huge awkward controller genre for sure!

Seriously though we don't even know its capabilities yet, so I would hold off before declaring domination.

What a silly post. This console isn't even going to come out for another year or two. It is already (before it even realeases) far outdated.. By the time it hits store shelves the tech will be an Antique. As for what genere it won't dominate... Sports games.. Sony/M$ franchises/FPS/any game that adults or teens take seriously. Gamers don't play Nintendo games to have a serious immersive experience.. They play it to have fun and be silly. This perception will not change, if anything Nintendo will get even more of a "kiddy" repuation due to this silly (and slightly ridiculous) tablet controller and relying on the Wii motes for extra controllers. With hardware that is 4 to 6 years behind the competition not to mention how far behind PC gaming they will be. They are shooting themselves in the foot. Isn't it funny that almost NO ONE, gaming publications such as GameInformer or any other respectable gaming site looks at the WiiU as a next gen console... It will be getting ports from the 360 and PS3 and even those aren't going to release till long after the PS/360 versions of the same game releases. This console is DoA. Point to the success of the NES... I point to the Gamecube.. Poin to the success of the Wii... I put to the WiiU. /thread.

I find this hilarious. Outdated how so? From what we know it will be capable of running the current PC games like BF3. Power wise it could be anywhere from 50% the power of PS3 to 5x and thats based on leaks who knows how much horse power Nintendo could still be hiding. We have heard from media outlets that Nintendo has been increasing the consoles RAM and other features non-stop since the console was originally announced and final dev kits still haven't made their way to developers.

You are calling a console out dated before its specs are even availible. All you have to go on is speculation and rumors and nothing official from Nintendo or even a third party to say for sure how powerful the console is. 4 to 6 years behind what competition? Certainly not 360/PS3 and its really way way to early to be saying behind Nex-Box and PS4 because you have no clue how powerful those consoles will be or what technology will be inside them.

The kiddy reputationbeing increased due to tablet controls is so funny. If that is the case why are tablets selling like hot cakes to adults? The software is why Nintendo is considered kiddy not the hardware, I also said "Cannot" dominate not "won't" dominate. Meaning their is no reason Nintendo couldn't dominate these genre's from a game point of view. Maybe sales wise it might be a stretch for Nintendo to out sell mature titles on the competitors hardware. But from a game quality stand point the Wii is capable of dominating every genre except maybe dance.

Also you name Game Informer but the articles I read where they don't refer to WiiU as next generation they are quotes from Michael Pachter and honestly if your going to listen to anything he has to say you really need to consider getting help. Look we really can't comment completely on graphical power and from a technological standpoint WiiU is definitly not old tech, the tablet controller features state of the art technology. If you want to say that the tablet controller is years old technology then so is Kinect and Move. In fact other then graphics their isn't any feature of any console that is new technology from those standards.

Look its hilarious you are judging hardware's graphical capabilities without any solid facts to support your conclusion or any knowledge of what the competitors will launch in the near future. Also saying WiiU could be two years away just shows a further lack of understanding when it comes to Nintendo products.

Lastly I point to NES a piece of hardware that was advanced but not drastically superior to competition and you point to GameCube but lets not forget N64's failure though it by all means was the most powerful piece of hardware that generation. I point to Wii a piece of technology that graphically was inferior to its competitors and you point to GameCube which was drastically more powerful then PS2,DreamCast.

See any pattern here? The drastically powerful next generation consoles fail miserably in your eyes, but the last generation innovative cheap technology out performs the competition? That only throws your idea of WiiU being DOA further into dissoray!

Wii U will put games one the best rated games of all time list just like Wii did

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

Can Wii U process Dance Dance Revolution? Check, I believe Wii U has now covered whey genre

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

FPS... no. Take for example PS move. People didnt like it. Especially in FPS games which Sony just keeps on pushing.

Yay!!!

i can think of some

shooters
RPGs
MMO
anything multiplayer that isnt split screen
(realistic) racing
most likely RTS as well

if you don't fanboy it out, Wiiu will just be an xbox with a TV inside the controller, and tbh it looks pretty bad to begin with
unless nintendo improves online by 10000% it will be a pale shadow of xboxlive or PSN+
nintendo and shooters havent went together since 007 golden eye
unless bethesda signs up on the wii u band wagon i don't see RPGs making a huge hit on wiiu and lord knows how long a legend of zelda will take, and even then it will be half as good as skyrim.

not to mention, wiiu will again be the weaker of the 3 consoles, because its only going to be a bit stronger then PS3.

I agree a MMO like WoW has far to much interface to be practical on a traditional control. You would have to use a key board and mouse which basically means you might as well play the PC. The tablet has a chance to bridge it a bit. I think FPS not because it won't be able to do them, but because the mainstream right now is a dual analog traditional controller. It would be far too much of a leap. Just look how FPS Games do on the Wii compared to the PS360. I know graphic a major part of that, but the fact that motion controls just have not been accepted in the FPS genre prevents any Wii game from being a breakaway hit. Yes they can be profitable, and sell well, but you are not going to see 5-10 mil is sales.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Don't forget that the Wii U will not only have the motion controllers for dancing, but the new pad as well. Who knows what is possible when it comes to that little thing.

Is the eye toy considered a kinect like device?  no its the other way around. wiki considers them a like but they both have features the other doesn't but they both can have updates to change that. Sorry for the random question. you should be.

Like everyone else has been saying I think it will have a problem with mature games just because Nintendo has a reputation now i think with mature gamers.

For some reason I wanna say that RTS games are going to be big on it because of that pad. Not entirely sure why though.

any genre worth playing.

I have to disagree with RPGs, though I still think handhelds will be the dominant RPG platforms in the 8th gen.  RPGs will not only work well on WiiU, the controller screen can be used to declutter the TV (think of the DS port of Chrono Trigger) and a sequel to TWEWY would be amazing on WiiU; but could see a bright future on the platform, DQXII is fairly likely to at least appear on WiiU along with Monolith games at the very least.

there's not, WiiU combines a bit of everything

unless core gamers hate it again because it's Nintendo, or they suddendly remember that you look stupid holding that tablet thing and moving it around, or graphics look crap again until PS4 and Xbox720 or whatever reason they can think of and most importantly: above 50% of core gamers are biased against Nintendo

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I hate "MMO" games because I don't like having to deal with people online in games.

On the otherhand, if Nintendo can get the main series Final Fantasy AND Dragon Quest on their console, then I wouldn't need any other system.

Although, I would love to see Assassin's Creed and remakes of old classic PSX and PS2 RPGs brought over.
