I want it to happen and hope that it will be good but... I have doubts honestly it should have been done during the ps2 days for a larger install base and the use of characters that aren't available this gen, or at least harder to obtain like GTA and current Final Fantasy characters.

I would also like to re-iterate how much I would love for this game to be made, even if- hell - ESPECIALLY if it was just a straight copy of nintendo.

When I started playing Super Smash Bros Melee as a kid I only knew the Mario and Pokemon characters.
The Mario ones I knew solely from Mario Kart 64.
All Nintendo's characters are very iconic if you don't know who they are.

I've only played SSBB once, I wasn't too impressed, I never really got the hang of the combat system, so if this came to the PS3, I'm not sure if I'd get it
and to those who say the games needs more characters, it'll have enough

No. It was not. MNR was just a kart racer, riding off the success of Little Big Planet's "Play Create Share" concept. It had NOTHING in common with mario kart except fot the fact that they were both kart racers. NOTHING ELSE. Were it something like "Little Big Race Track" and actually was a spin-off of another franchise, borrowing that franchise's art style, characters and theme, maybe you would have had something. BUT YOU DO NOT. It's like saying Halo is a rip-off of Wolfenstein because it's a shooter.
