Forums - Sales Discussion - WW UP 12th of November

Anybody want to speculate on what the combined Mario 3d land numbers will be for US and Europe? Seen as though it looks like we won't be getting them for a couple of days. I reckon 700,000 and 3DS hardware over all regions to be in the 450,000-500,000 range this week. Also, don't forget the pink 3DS was released in Europe with Nintendogs and Cats.

We havn't done much yet!!!

Data should be up soonish though. Over the next 4/5 days we have a few previews, 2 lots of pre order data, Americas, EMEAA, BF estimates, BF numbers from MS/Ninty (maybe Sony) and the new site changes. So lots to look forward too!

There are more changes coming up this week? BTW I like the new changes everything seems so much more organised. Keep up the great work!

Next week anything can happen. 360 and PS3 sales will both fall, but will Halo and coloured PS3's make the fall not as bad? great point. the fall shouldn't be to big with Halo and those colored consoles but i some how see PS3 winning the 3rd wk. now thats hard to say when considering the effect MW3 may still have on hardware. i still find it strange that PS3 saw no reall boost in hardware. didn't PS3 drop wk over wk in the EMEAA?

$149 4G 360 and $199 160G PS3 at wal-mart, best buy, and target. i say the PS3 is the better buy but both are great deals. the question is which one will have the biggest effect?

UC3, like many games this fall which deserve better sales, is selling poorly. This generation is tired of multiple sequels (well except the mindless zombies), and it shows. Suck though because UC3, Gears 3, and Forza 4 are all great games. agreed but in comparison to UC2 UC3 is kicking more ass then need be, although it should be kicking more and taking some names with it. i was sick of sequels when MW2 came out lol. see thats what happens when you continue to put the same product out yr end and tr out but more then 23m people disagree sadly.

I did say the 360 will likely outsell the PS3 this holiday, but not by much, and it won't surpass PS3 in annual sales. MS is selling 360's by retailers at $250 or less, chances are BF will help them more. agreed. i expected 360 to sale 500k and PS3 to sale 400k MW3 wk. i was only 12k off how lucky can you get lol. again black friday is questionable in my eyes but as usual this gen history repeats its self, and now i'm seeing signs of PS3 winning 2012 aswell but thats to far ahead but i bring it up cause last month i didn't see it as i'm sure you remember.

well the holiday season also includes Dec. so what do you see? i'm looking for PS3 to take the first 2wks of Dec. after that i'm not to sure.

Trends are likely to repeat, to be fair the fall next week could be just as big as prior years since Assassin's Creed has really gotten repetetive and lackluster. Revelations is nowhere nearly as big as AC2 was and I'd argue Brotherhood too.

4GB 360 is a good buy if you own a PS3 and just want to play 360 exclusives. At that price, I think any self respective gamer who could apreciates a good shooter/RPG/Race game should get a 360 as a second console. As a primary console, the PS3 is the better buy, but in the end it depends on taste (from a software exclusive perspective).

UC3 should be selling a lot better then UC2 for early sales considering the hype and quality UC2 brought to the franchise, but it's not. Sales are frontloaded. The question is will legs be strong enough to make it best in series like Black Ops did for CoD, or will sales die off from lack of hype/interest like Halo Reach (losing to Halo 3 despite stronger start).

Can't wait till I get my hands on a PS3 again and play UC3, UC2 is my favorite PS3 exclusive, and the only one I want to platnium.

I was only 2k off in that 10 week countdown for 360, and I overestimated PS3 by 60k LOL.

For december, holiday sales affect Americas more, and 360 dominates. I know PS3 will do better this holiday then last because of EMEAA dominance, but I dunno. MS saved all their exclusives for the holidays and I think the 360 has more to look forward to in 2012, so I feel sales will be higher. Just not as high as last year, and it won't beat PS3 by as much.

Honestly though, I'm bad at predicting sales. I keep thinking this gen will end, but it keeps on going, spitting sequels after sequels.

AC too repetitive? Sounds a lot like COD to me. And I have seen some numbers AC Revelations has a slightly bigger launch than the previous ones although it will die off quickly (hopefully) The same with Halo CE and Skyward Sword is doing mixed in the all parts of Europe. Although it will be huge since next week is Black Friday and there will be a discount and a bundle. But that won't stop other games from doing great as well such as Uncharted 3, Halo, Skyrim and Assassin's Creed

Yea, but Assassin's Creed is a single player game, where MW3 is multiplayer, and I'm not huge on Call of Duty either. I just like the co-op in Modern Warfare 2 and 1 was a great first game like AC1.

Also Zelda released on the 20th, which was this week. So we won't see a big Wii boost yetm unless Zumba Fitness 2 is huge.

Also Uncharted 3 isn't doing that well. Uncharted 2 had a stronger week 2 despite releasing earlier into the holiday season. Like Gears it's frontloaded.

If you compare the competition Uncharted 2 had in October (almost nothing) and Uncharted 3 in Novemeber (biggest game of all time in the week after it came out and the biggest RPG launch this year and second to this gen only behind FF13) and BF3 (one of the most hyped games of all time come just one week before it) add other big sellers like AC, Halo and Zelda how could will Uncharted 3 sales be in the second week? But don't worry it will outsell Uncharted 2 for sure and it should hold up at least 150k every week this holiday.

That's the same reason Halo: Reach isn't selling as well as Halo 3. Doesn't change the fact that Halo Reach isn't selling as well as Halo 3, and Uncharted 2 is looking to sell more poorly then Uncharted 3.

Also Uncharted 3 is being bundled pretty substantially.

I don't think any major exclusive this gen will outsell their predesessor now, consoles are over the hill. Gears 3 will beat Gears 1 and 2, but not by as much as many though, Forza 4 might not pass Forza 3, LBP2 won't beat LBP1, same with Motorstorm...Uncharted 3 is in the same boat. Killzone 3 might top Killzone 2, but the difference won't be huge.

Also Halo is a remake. Not a full pledge Halo, and it;s on a different console. That's like saying Zelda will affect Modern Warfare 3 (PS360) sales.
