#42. Killer Instinct Gold (N64)

C-C-Combo Breaker! That famous phrase that you either loved or hated depending on who was on the receiving end of it. Frankly, I don't how Killer Instinct Gold holds up today because I've yet to find a way to replay it but from what I remember it's one hell of a game, the combo system is was got me hooked, I spent many many hours perfecting the art of linking moves to extend your combo and when I think back at the list of special moves these characters had, I wonder how I was able to pull it off.

With this game I continued a weird trend I have of always maining female characters in fighting games, for KI:Gold it was Kim Wu, Maya and Orchid (but I did play Saberwulf and Jago too). My favorite mode was the one where you built a team and you fought your opponent until you killed all of his team with ultra or ultimate combos.

I'll update my list later, but I wanna give a special mention to the best Mario Sport game of all time that I forgot, but it is too late to change my list now

I cannot believe I forgot it, the gameplay was tight, the modes really dun, the graphics incredible, the innovation and changes from the N64 were mindblowing, and a blast to play overall. Assuming I'd change it, it'd be 39th in my list.

Such a shame the Wii version was trash

It's your list. Do what you want with it.

So yeah... it's #39. Yay!

I'd have to move it all , and I'm too lazy

Also, I also forgot:

51.

Sonic Adventure at 42

Knuckles music time:

I'll pass my own initial judgement on Skyward Sword in a few hours. I paid $93 for the collector's edition and the guide, so i had better enjoy it :P

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

42. Need for Speed: Most Wanted (PS2)

My second favourite NFS of all time. Racing was just pure fun and very addicting. I probably wouldn't play it again today though, current gen racing games are just better in most aspects.

42 - Left 4 Dead (360, PC)

This here is how you make a game with replay value. It seemed so simple at first, and to this day has a really basic premise, but it's the focus on teamwork and the randomly generated hoardes and special infected that keep you coming back for more. Add to that the later additions of survival mode and Vs (free on PC) and you have plenty of reasons to play this more than once. Also, I'm a huge fan of Co Op multiplayer as opposed to competitive multiplayer, so this game gets extra bonus points from me.

I placed Kingdom Hearts at #41....¬_¬

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I had it at either 43 or 44 (whichever one on my list Megaman 9 is), but decided that I only liked the series as a collective, not as an individual game. that said, Kingdom Hearts 2 is on my list to fill that void :P

#41 Heavy rain played on PS3, released 2010

Big budget adventure games are a rare breed nowadays, luckily Heavy rain turned out to be excellent. The atmosphere is extremely well done. The sense of dread and hopelessness you get when watching the dad failing to interact with his son in a gloomy appartment, after losing his other son and wife, is almost too much to bear. My wife didn't even get that far. She did not want to play any further when Jason got lost in the mall and hit by a car.
The locales are all very well made with lots of little details and beautiful lighting to draw you into the game. It reminds me a bit of Quentin Tarantino's film style, slow well realized wide shots with lots of detail to take in. Only the tension is still lacking a bit.
The picture in picture effect is well used and adds to the story telling. Interacting with other characters is top notch, crowds are well realized in the mall, station and club scene and the investigative tools are all fun to work with.
There could have been a few less endings imo. I would have liked to see fewer well realized endings instead of going for quantity. Also some of the action scenes didn't really fit in for me. I rather drive, run and shoot myself instead of pressing button prompts.
Not perfect but definitely worthy of a spot in my top 50. I can't wait to see how David Cage's next project will turn out.
