how did Nintendo go from Party-friendly to single-player-centric????

Do they even care about retaining any of the current Wii casual gamers?

How did you come to that conclusion? I’m guessing you totally ignored the part were you can play using a U-pad and four Wiimotes at the same time and now you might be able to play with two U-pads and four Wiimotes making it a total of 6 players

Nintendo has always been both, or did you experience some sort of amazing multiplayer experience in Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, or The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that the rest of us somehow missed?

Beyond that, party games tend to have more accessable controlls than single-player experiences and I suspect games involving more than 2 players would probably be dependent on the Wiimote regardless of the availability of additional tablets.
