So 2 N64 games + Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 = drought over?

And Pokemon Rumble Blast, Super Street Fighter 4, Blazblue: Continuum Shift and Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns. Oh and if you're contabilizing the games that are also coming out till the end of the year then you also have Rayman Origins (finally a true Rayman), Cave Story 3D, Ace Combat and Sonic Generations

So I count 2 N64 games, the two Mario games which will be megatons again and 7 more good games. Yeah, I would count that the drought is pretty much over.

Problem is that, those that aren't going to get the 3DS see those games as a nice-to-have, not must-have.

Well, the DS then also had a lot of nice-to-have and not must-have for the people that didn't want to get the DS as well xD.

Now that was a handheld with a first year drought.

At this point in the lifecycle I owned seven or eight DS games, but I only own two 3DS games. The DS started terribly, but it still outpaced the atrocious 3DS. Of course there's an onslaught of games coming in November/December, so the 3DS actually isn't that much worse, but rather equal.

But still, considering the circumstances, it's shameful for the 3DS.

I owned 0 games for the DS and only started owning a DS game after the onslaught of JRPGs that the handheld had. Fact is, the 3DS has games that appeal to people, maybe not in the same fashion that the DS had, but the games are there.

Nintendo's mistake with the 3DS at launch was relying too much on the third parties, expecting them to actually release the games they were planning to release in the first months of the console and that backfired on them. Even so, they've corrected their hand and the next months are filled with Nintendo's first party games in a bigger fashion that the DS had for the same time frame as well.

imo the line-up is still pretty much shit. by the end of the year there will still only be 2 games i personally think are worth buying -- super mario and mario kart. 2 games that are undoubtedly very very good but still a pretty weak line-up overall after almost a full year on the market.

...and maybe monster hunter. never played one so i'm not sure if i'd like it so maybe 3 games.

Tell me, did both the PSP or the DS had so much of a better line up after their first year to consider the 3DS line up shit?

And you used the key word, what you personally think. I also think that the Vita line-up is worthless to me, because there's not a single game that I want, even Uncharted and the only one games i'm looking forward so far are Persona 4 Golden and FFX remake. That doesn't entitle me to call the Vita line-up shit, because that wouldn't be the right thing to do.

well, as for the psp i never bought one because to this day the line-up is still to shitty to justify it for me.  VC2 being the only true killer app for me...and maybe patapon.

as for the DS, i don't remember exactly what lanched in the first year but i didn't buy my DS until late in the 3rd year so i'll just go out on a limb and say yes, in the first year the DS line-up was also shit because i didn't feel compelled to buy one.

...and c'mon man, if you have an opinon just say it.  if someone's feeling hurt because of your opinion on something like a video game that's their problem not yours.

I bought the PSP on launch and had it without any decent game for a very long time (until Joanne D'Arc released). The thing is, it's a bit tiresome to hear about how shitty is X,Y or Z console/handheld when there's no factual reason to do so. It was the same back in 2006/7 with the PSP and the PS3.

I just think people should be a bit more respectful that's all. Not all consoles and games will appeal to all people, yet there's bound to always be someone who does like it and doesn't want to continuosly hear "OMG so shitty" over and over again. Had enough of that when I bought the Saturn, the GC, the PSP, etc.

I'm still not convinced.

The current software out and the future line-up is now decent, so is the price. I'm still not convinced, it still has it's problems, some of which they can never change.

Yeah, big problems, like these big problems from now on:

Tales of the Abyss, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Super Pokèmon Scramble or Rumble (depends on the region), a new Shinobi, Sonic Generations (for 3DS it's a totally different game), Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy, Resident Evil: Revelations...yeah, big problems for this winter.

I wasn't talking about games, I was talking about hardware, software and a few other things.

Not that the games you mentioned are anything to shout about anyway, some of them are good but it's still considered an average line-up, especially for the holiday period.

Tales of the Abyss and Mario though, that's tempting.

Well, I still say there aren't any games good enough on the 3DS to warrant me spending money that would be going towards better games on the original DS. (until then, "the waiting game" will be the #1 3DS game)

Software = User Interface, features, online play, friends system, online browser.

Rarely do I ever call games software.
