Forums - Gaming - Facebook has 'more gamers than Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony combined'

I don't know why but this news feels very old.

Facebook games aren't games you play with your friends, these are games based on simply abusing your friends as a resource.

Facebook games are the worst kind of game out there - pay for content, or make friends play this game to earn your ingame cash.

seriously, i feel insulted as a gamer that the consoles i like so much are mentioned in comparison with fucking facebook games. (Not to say that facebook itself is a bad thing, i like using it) - but whoever complained about MMOs making addictive, should throw an Eye on Social games. these arent social at all. end of the fucking story before i nerdrage around.

PS: I am pretty sure that there are more people who have games activated on their accounts compared to the total ammount of Consoles sold  - i mean, i played ravenwood fair on it for a month or so. and i had 70 ingame Pal's. the thing was, 55 of them were inactive, those were people from my friendlist  i invited them to the game, simply because inviting someone grants bonuses. but infact, those 55 'players' never touched this game more than a minute . still, they are registered.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

It's an entirely different product. Toyota doesn't go around bragging about how it sells more cars than Airbus does aeroplanes.

This guy needs to shut up of course you have more gamers as he would call them you have over 800 million users. And those people playing your "games" don't play them like people with consoles do. Heck i wouldn't even call facebook games games.

HA! They think people play Facebook games because they're simpler? No, they play them because they're... what's the word... oh yeah--FREE!

Do they honestly think that more people would play these games than, say, Mario or Call of Duty, if those games were both free and available at the click of a button?

I think not.

The pick up and play nature of those games is very compelling free or not, that's my opinion on it. You'd be surprised how many people pay for Farmville items or Mousehunt special items and such. Those aren't free I can guarantee it.

Fair enough, but let me put it another way.  The average Call of Duty sells ~20 million copies, and it costs $60 for the most basic version.  In order to play it, people also have to go out to the store and by it, which deters some people.

Regardless of things like microtransactions, but I can guarantee that most of those alleged 200 million players do not spend $60 on in-game Facebook items.  There are certainly some people who spend a great deal more than that, but I promise you the average amount someone spends on Facebook games is much less than an average console game.

What I'm trying to say is, if Call of Duty can sell 20 million copies at a minimum of $60, then we can't even imagine how many players it would have if it was free and available at one click.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Nintendo and Sony combined, maybe yes!

but Microsoft!? everyone who has a Pc has played at least solitaire...or are the facebook apps more gamish than solitaire?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I wonder how many of them spend 500 euro + on games per year ;)

+1

If you don't have friends to abuse, you could also pay for it.
