5 million + users is a flop compared to the 11+ kinects sold. Thats what the media turned it into last holiday: a battle between kinect and Move. And guess who won lol. MS tried something new while Sony built upon what Nintendo did and paid the price. A lack of Move specific titles hurt it as well.

And really......very little buy Move for games that primarily use a dualshock 3.

Sony lost, MS won. Move failed expectations and Kinect succeeded where it failed. deal.

so by that logic.

Call of duty won.

halo and gears lost. deal

Well Halo and Gears atleast have a bright future. The Kinect does as well. Move on the other hand...

nice way to move goal posts. No, Kinect does not have a bright future. As soon as 720 releases it will be left behind just like the 360 will and the original Xbox before it

Can i borrow that Time Machine of yours?

Are there a lot of games on the ps3 that support move? I know they had there initial launch games.but I hae not heard about too many since then.

There is a hell of alot more than Motion+, ill tell you that, and just about as much as Kinect. THe support is actually pretty good, considering how little it has sold. The problem is people dont know about them

As I said before, Move support on games that use a joystick will do little to sell Move hardware.

Casual gamers rather buy a Wii or Kinect. Core console gamers clearly prefer joysticks. The Move is a flop and Sony is just gonna keep it under the radar.

What's your definition of a flop.

When a product has less market share then the competitors. And/or when the performance of the product fell below corporations expectations.

Id say Move was a flop.

If that were the case, then every shooter that was outsold by CoD is a flop. Every fighting game that was outsold by Super Smash bros is a flop. Every platforming game that was outsold by NSMBWii is a flop. The X360 is a flop. All of these are obviously untrue. 3-5m units is a number that Sony rarly sees & I'm pretty sure they're happy with what they've sold & the money they've made. I highly doubt they regret the release of Move. Sure, they would be happier if they had more sales, but you could say the same about Kinect, or any product for that matter.

Also, we have no concrete evidence on what Sony's expectations were. We don't know if or how much, the Move met their expectations. 'Wants' are different from 'expectations'. I'm pretty sure Sony envies MS Kinect success, but that doesn't translate into their product being a failure.

The Move flopping is an illusion caused by the huge success of Kinect.

Hardware performance is a different subject matter then software performance. Those game examples mean nothing.

360 has surpassed origional Xbox sales by more then double and is gonna see a 10 year lifespan. Im sure that goes in with MS's expectations. On top of that, MS really only sees Sony as their main competitor. 360 still has a 3 million lead. So I have no idea where you think the 360 is a flop.....

I have no concrete evidence but I also have common sense. Sony clearly wanted the market that bought Kinect but lost out. A 5 million user base after a year isnt exactly something to brag about. Move flopping is a fact, not illusion, cause by the success of kinect.

Its ok, you dont work for Sony. A product flopping has no effect on us, unless there are feelings of fanboyism.

Why is it different? You're saying that Kinect outselling Move makes Move a flop. Why is 'your' rule different for hardware? Please, educate me.

You're 360-outselling-XB argument is flawed because the Move outsold PSEYE by a large margin also.

Like I said, 'wants' are not expectations. They're wants. The fact is the Move acquired a large market & brought in a large amount of profit. Kinect's huge success doesn't diminish that fact.

I never said I worked for Sony, nor have I implied that this effects me personally. I'm simply discussing popular a sales topic. In the process, I'm neglecting any irrelevant comments. I'll ask you to do the same to prevent derailment.

Well sir the main difference is that hardware sales are long term and can fluctuate over years. Software typically starts high and then drops down within a year of release and are eventually forgotten. Exceptions of the rule aside, thats the main difference and thats why using software examples to prove a hardware point is meaningless.

Well my original definition of a flop was lower sales to a competitor and/or not meeting expectations. Even with your game points the sales could have still met the projections of the developer.

The 360 argument is not flawed because I showed how it not only met MS projections by succeeding as much as it did over its predecessor but its also still ahead of the PS3 by 3 million. I could care less about The move outselling the even bigger flop PSEYE, my point was about 360.

Its a simple fact: it was Move vs Kinect last holiday. Kinect won. Sony lost. Move flopped commercially to its competitor. We dont know Sonys expectations but cmon man, surely they were higher then........this

By your logic, then 360 is a flop since Wii has dominated it.

He's gonna say that the Wii wasn't the X360's main competitor, or something like that. I'm done talking with him though. He seems to be creating his own rules & restrictions to define the word 'flop' to better suit his argument. It's no use anyway though. Regardless of if I prove him wrong or not, he's going to continue his anti-Sony mindset that's evident in most of his posts. Nothing you can say will change a person's agenda, I guess. Simply let them be.

Your right. Its all spin in the end. No matter now much real world evidence there is theres always an angle to either degrade a corporation or make it out to look like the winner. Besides, someones gotta play devils advocate, seems nobody else here does that.

pretending for a moment here that the move has poor support (something thats hard to do, as it actually has excellent support)

but how the hell is 8.8 million sales as of 3 months ago, poor?

9 million sales in 9 months is a ton

9 million sales isn't bad at all, but the actual userbase is obviously much smaller. There are those who bought 2 - 4 units. So I would presume the userbase is closer to 4.5 million.

Once again, much of the support is just Move compatibility in games that work with a joystick. This doesn't do much to encourage Move sales. So lets quit pretending that's excellent support.

as usual you have no idea what your talking about. You think everyone who has move has two of them?? I for one only have one, and everyone i know only has one. If you think the sales are bad then thats your opinion and I respect(could car less personally). But if your talking support and you say its poor, just shows your trolling. Look at the amount of games released for Move and will be. Look at the Kinect games, about the same damn amount. SO if Move is getting crappy support, then by your logic Kinect is getting crappy support as well. They both get the same types of games. You think all those Kinect games are Kinect only?? Please

I'll make this simple since my time is pressed at the moment. Kinect has better support in regards to games that require the Kinect. It has the kind of support that can actually sell hardware. This is what Move lacks and why it'll continue to fade into obscurity.

Argue more if you want but ultimately you're defending a perhiperal that failed.

what are these Kinect only games that sell great??? Cause besides DC and KS everything else sold meh and flopped.  Your whole argument was that MOVE has no support I tore that to peieces and your trying to move goal posts. again support has nothing to do with sales, support is simply how much games are being made for said periphial. MOVE and Kinect are about even. Ifyu wanna pull the Kinect only argument, there are 3 Kinect only games coming and 4 MOve only games

Some of that doesn't count because it's bundled. :P

Pixel Art can be fun.

Not bad I'd say, for a device that was said to completely fail.

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

No, Kinect Sports and Dance Central are games that did very well. Games don't necessarily need to sell millions to be a hit. Casual games generally aren't known for their AAA budgets. I would consider games like Kinectimals, Joyride, Zumba, and Your Shape hits as well. Then there are other games that sold 300K - 500K which is good enough for developers to keep supporting the hardware with games that actually require the hardware. Imagine that!

Now show me a list of Move required games that sold well. Show me this non-existent list.

There are considerably more than 3 Kinect required games coming. In fact, these are the games coming this month...

Minute to Win It
PowerUp Heroes
Dance Central 2
Disney Universe
Grease Dance
Just Dance Kids 2
Kinect Sports Season Two
Motion Explosion!
Puss in Boots
