OP: Seems very unlikely. Its still a near one year old title, updates don't cause nearly as much stirr as a full release no matter their content and, besides, they're still on two separate platforms.
If anything, this will cause people who already own a PS3 to possibly choose a cheap GT5 copy over some other racing game available on the same platform.

Exactly. That ultimate edition included $30 worth of DLC plus had a Top Gear sticker on it. It probably didn't hurt GT5 sales at all, just boosted Forza 3 sales.

I'm huge on cars, and I play a lot of Forza and GT. I didn't even know about this Spec 2.0 update and price cut. If I didn't know about it, most others wouldn't either, so this upgrade will only boost GT5 sales, and probably by no more then 50k.

They will know about the price cut when they walk into the store

That will boost GT5 sales, but not hurt Forza 4 sales.

I do think it will steal a little limelight from the release of forza 4, Forza doesnt have the fanbase that GT has so i guess more fans will be talking about the update for gt5, specially as its a pretty amazing updtae, pretty much a game overhaul + the DLC after

Spec 2.0 is the first big update for Gran Turismo 5... all the previuos update are 1.xx (1.13 til now)... so finally it get the 2.0 update.

So the name is ok.

sure its clear that you want your prefered game to sell more, but you have had a clean thread with no flaming (other than the sly jabs at you by defensive 360 fans).

GT5 "Spec 2.0" (pretentious title much).... will not greatly affect Forza sales

BUT... Forza sales wont come close to GT5 sales.

Why? For me the timing of announce/release for Spec 2.0 + Price Drop + DLC is just to steal the Forza 4's momentus... so make some people not buy the game.

It's pretty clear for me.
