Forums - Sales - EMEAA Up! 1st October

Games that release mega early or break the street date arnt counted until the officia/more prominant release date, the sales for that first week are put there, so they are counted.

I think LBP's broken street date is the only one we have counted? I can't remember.

PES will be in next week's data, this site did the same thing with PES last year,

Kinda Surprised 360 went up by this much this week sort of expected it to be flat, maybe 1% up, not 12% up. Though FIFA 12 did sell more on 360 than Gears did, so maybe Gears residual sales effect + FIFA 12 can account for that boost.

Nice result for PS3.

With everything being up double figures I'm guessing some sort of holiday effect must be happening too.

Very good second week for Gears. Nice launch for Ico & SOTC.

Child of Eden launch suffering from delayed launch apathy I think.

Yeah, Child of Eden is a bit of a wash.

Hardly the big seller on Kinect/360 predicted and the strong bias to 360 clearly hurt it on PS3 to the extent its going to do even worse there than 360.

TBH I think the publisher really messed up with the whole marketing and timed exclusive approach.  Eden needed to be day date on both consoles and pushed as the best new title for Kinect/Move.  Instead apart from a few fans of the developer it was clear most people were confused about the title, whether you needed Kinect/Move or not.  Whether Move was supported or not.  Whether it was 360 exclusive or not.

Launching into that kind of confusion in today's marketplace is pretty much suicide IMHO.

No ... the vast majority of people that saw it on shelvs wouldn't have even known it was coming to the PS. Launching multiplat day and date wouldn't have done much, it was only timed exclusive for a couple of months.

I'd have to disagree in this case.  The huge initial focus on Kinect support clearly led a lot of people to think it was a full exclusive, add to that the fact most timed exclusives sell less as full games (i.e. it works for DLC like with MW but not a full title) and the Move support was announced very late and came across as more of a belated add on and you're going to lose sales on PS3.

TBH though the confusion and lack of focus of the marketing hurt the game on 360 too IMHO so I'm not saying it would be a huge seller.  But if it had been marketed equally for Kinect/Move I firmly believe sales would have been more even.  If it had been marketed and positioned better full stop then I think the title would have seen even stronger sales.

TBH though I think Eden belongs more in the download list of XBLA/PSN as a premier digital title than on a retail shelf where it has to compete with the AAA retail titles for attention, and that was surely a large part of the problem.

I have to agree with you on all points and I own the game for 360. I had no idea the PS3 version had Move support as I remember at one point it was stated that it wouldn't. Also I think this title would have sold boatloads on XBLA/PSN because it would have been promoted better. I noticed people outside of the forum junkies don't really know what it is.

What do you think of it?  I've played on 360 and PS3 and enjoyed it on both (I felt it was a bit more fun with Kinect vs Move but both worked well).

I actually want games like this to succed, so I'm more annoyed when the publisher/developer seem to hamper them rather than help them in the marketplace.  XBLA/PSN were supposed, as one of their functions, to provide a viable outlet for games like this and I feel that the divertion to retail actually hurt the title rather than helped it.

I got it at launch for PS3, as it was £15 and came with a free t shirt, you can now get it for £12 but without the t shirt, after playing it i am enjoying it but i think they were cheeky to charge £40 on xbox launch.  Also it is on PSN for download so alot of people might of just of picked it up on there instead, but as always we will never know those sales.

Move support is good though, makes me laugh that they didnt even bother to change the front cover box art of the man playing it with his hands, at least they did on the back of the box.

Really great debut for Fifa (both versions)

With Media Create data, the PS3 and 360 are basically tied. I wonder what VGC data will for tell. It's a statistical tie regardless, but in favor of PS3 or 360?

Also will Forza 4 next week give a boost in EMEAA? What's your opinion guys?

360 will be 10k ahead this week. I think 360 will drop next week or stay flat with the Fifa/Gears boost wearing off. I think about 60-70k for 360 next week.

So the Forza Boost will not be noticable?

I hope it is, but I kind of agree. I think 360 can stay flat, but I also think PS3 can stay relativly flat too, without a AAA Racing Sim.
