The game is extremely good.

Its in my top 3 fave this gen with Alan Wake and Halo Reach.

The visulas are beautiful and will wow you. The campaign is utterly briliant. It even challenges Reach for 4 player coop fun.If a shooter isnt hard ad fun in 4 player coop campaign these days then fo me its a let down. Gears 3 is up there with the best from Bungie.

Also the multiplayer is seriously good. Really really good.

The sales is getting are showing jut how much people are recomending this game. Everyone Ive played with online and in person agrees its definately the best shooter since Reach. Fantastic.

To be honest this game has rebirthed my love for games latley. I started to get stale with the KZ3's, Crysis 2's off this year. In fact Epic have provided my 2 fave shooters this year so far. Bulletstorm and Gears 3. IMO Gears 3 is on a different league to other shooters this year. I put in over 800 hours in Reach so far. If Gears 3 continues it will do the same. If a game holds my attention that long it deserves its accolades.

Gears is the only game I feel I miss out on... well I did play the first one with my brothers... so just parts 2 and 3. However, I do think Uncharted and Zelda make up for my missed opportunity.

But...you championed Crysis 2...

On these forums maybe. But people will playing this online more than most other games for months. This is extremely high quality online. Only a few games will pull Gears 3 numbers online 3 months from now. COD, Halo and maybe BF3. The rest including Uncharted 3 wont have anywhere near the players of Gears 3 online. 

Gears 3 first week sales show this is a HUGE First party  franchise of the scale now of Halo and Gran Turismo. 

Microsoft now have 2 8 million + franchises.

3 mill in fist week is amazing. And blows previous Gears sales away. 

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will gain GOTY, it looks better than the original. I admit though from what I have seen Gears of War 3 looks like a good game.

It was a good game.

But it  didnt hold my attention past 3-4 weeks.

That explains it, I agree, G3ars does seem more appealing than Crysis 2, maybe it's cuz I'm pro TPS and bias FPSs :D

Is there any need to laugh at someones opinion?

You say its possible that it mught be best game on 360, but not gen or lifetime. So its clear you value 360 gams very little. 

In all honesty many people out there value PS3 exclusives nowhere near top of the gen or of all time. Sales of the games tell alot. 

Gears is the best selling TPS of the gen. And just done even better again. 

My point?

Dont laugh at an opinion. Especially when the general public obviously hold Gears in high esteem.

Definitely an improvement over Gears 2 and obviously blows Gears 1 out of the water, but wouldn't say best game ever. Definitely one of my best games of this year as it goes up there with LA Noire and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Just mainly love how far along the single player has come. I mean from being absolutely terrible in the first one to being a very solid experience with great storytelling and gameplay progression in the third one has shown just how far along the series has come. Even further the deep multiplayer experience along with Horde and Beast modes shows how strong of a social experience it is with your friends. Not to mention the 4-player co-op. Kudos to Epic for delivering a fantastic end to the trilogy.

I knew it was coming. Reviews, youtube searches (all I typed in was "Gears of" and the surprise was ruined). Most people even told me when it was going to happen. When I reached a certain part of the game, I damn near choked up. I turned the console off and I sat there for a minute thinking how awesome the game is.

It's not for everybody but for people that played Gears 1 and 2, and got invested in the characters and the story, Gears 3 is one hell of an amazing game. Is it the best of all time? It takes time for a game to claim that title. Lot's of games give you that "Holy shit, that was awesome!" feeling during that first playthrough but they just don't have that timeless feel after a few months pass.

I will say that after re-playing Gears 1 and 2, the series has held up incredibly well. Also, after a bit of initial disappointment with Gears 3, the narrative has found quite a nice pace. I love the game. It may end up as the best trilogy I've ever played (Mass Effect is also in the running). It may be the best third person shooter ever made. Best game? I can't call it. Midway through act 4, it's all I can think about.
