Alot of game reviewers claim gams to be hard. When  me nd my friends dont find them hard per se. Challenging yes, but to say poor Xbox players is rediculous. Xbox players are hardcore players in general.

OT of Demon Souls over Oblivion, I put in about 250 hours into Oblivion. If Demon Souls can do that then I'm there. I'll wait though based on my friends  description of the game. Much more games I'm interested in  than DS right now. Story is great and all, but RPG's should be engaging on all fronts. And from what I understand theres better out there than DS.

XBox players mostly are a bunch of kids playing Halo and CoD. Check the top 10 X360 titles in this very same site. I would hardly define FPS players as "hardcore players".

Regarding the gameplay time I spent 400 hours in Oblivion and 300 or so in Demons Soul's. But I also had my PS3 failing so I lost all my gamesaves (talking about my shitty situations..). A clean gameplay for Platinum in DS requires 3 rounds and a half to get all magics, miracles and similar. With tricks it can be done in half the time. Still both have a good replay value. DS, being online, is also fun to replay to build very specialized characters for invasions /that I gave up).

Interesting enough (I think that it was IGN claiming so), Dark Souls seems to have more content than Skyrim. After 60 hours playing IGN said they kept metting new kind of monsters in different enviroments, while, as we know, the Elder Scroll keeps repeating the kind of enemies.

Ok, I've found it, it is actually all over the internet. For example check http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/119/1196353p2.html

Last thing: Bethesda as usual is exploiting the use of DLCs. I decided that since now on I won't ever buy again a Bethesda game on day 1, but I will wait for the GOTY version with all DLC, and especially bug fixes, included. I know Oblivion was much more stable that the 2 Fallout, but still I am totally sick of Bethesda way of milking money. Dark Souls will come with no DLC ever. Like DS. There simply is no need for it. Play the game, beat it and then move forward.

Said that don't get me wrong. I will buy Skyrim after the full game is out and after the price drop. But I preordered Dark Souls. Special Edition with the bonus content. All together it costs 43 euro instead of 60. So even the price is better!

Although I agree with your comment about COD. I dont aagree with your comment about Halo. Halo's multiplayer iss designed so its not easy. In fact the reason COD players pla COD is the level system and the fact its unbalanced.

Halo  is one of the few shooters these days where its completely balancedd for every user. Meaning if your winning, your winning because your good. Same with he new Gears of War 3. Microsoft First Party games tend to not follow the trend of other multiplayer games. Its completely about the skill.

Anyways I will definately look into Dark Souls. Ive just heard a few things from friends. And most dont put it in the same quality bracket as Elder Scrolls.

Hey when I get it  might be seriously surprised. And wish I picked it up first.

I hope that its a great game.

so is your Demons Souls in PS3 top 10 sales or COD not in PS3 top 10 sales

No, but it still sold at least 1.26 millions worldwide and it boosted Japanese PS3 sales:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/demons-souls-boosts-japan-ps3-sales

Oblivion on PS3 sold 2.21 millions. It is really not clear how vgchartz computed the DS sales, since the entry is for the Atlus (NA) version but it includes the Japanese and EU sales as well, but that's ok. It's still just half a million less than what FF XIII sold on the X360. But true, CoD has 4 entries in the PS3 top 10 as well. Still at least  FF XIII is there at #8.

You should also be very interested to know that Dark Souls already sold 260,000 copies in Japan only, this opening week (news of yesterday):

http://www.vgchartz.com/article/88005/the-japan-preview-92511-edition-dark-souls-dqc-wk-2/

Way above the expectations. That is very promising I would say.

Console wars? Skyrim vs. Dark Souls???

2: Why would anyone who isn't even (a) being silly or (b) trying to get clicks/publicity want to compare two games that aren't even remotely similar, except for, superficially, setting?

And how would they be so different? They are both action RPG. Both use a medieval theme. Both have dragons. Both have character classes. Magics, weapons, healing items and all that kind of stuff is there. Both let to cumstomize the character when levelling up. Both have an open world, although Skyrin's one is supposed to be fully open. And both will be exceptional. To me it is like to discuss about Uncharted vs Tomb Raider.

Then it happens that Demon's/Dark Souls is a new IP and many that played Demon's Souls just hope for it to be very successful. To be honest it is the only game that introduced innovative concepts, at least in the online playing: onine blended into the single player campaign. It can be turned off and on signing out and in the PSN (or XBLA now). It kinda feel transparent to the player. I liked a comment I've read in a site: Forget about graphics. This [the DS online mode] IS the next generation of gaming.

My advice, don't rely too much on friends for what to play, make up your own mind. With that said; PLEASE get Dark Souls- at the very least rent it, if it's anything on Demon's Souls, it's gonna be an epic affair.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

"Most don't put Dark Soul's in the same quality bracket as Skyrim"

Either those people never played Demon's Souls or their completely oblivious to the shit ton of bugs that Bethesda releases their games with.

Its only some opinions directed at my friends in real life.

I may end up disagreeing with them. But generally based on the fact we play the same type of games it holds wieght for me.

I know Elder Scrolls is amazing bcause  Ive played all of them. Ive never personally played through Demon Souls.

Its just an opinion bro. :)

Mostly that ES have so much non-combat stuff, and that the combat is more EXP based than skill based. Also that it's mainly first-person (although, yeah, you can theoretically play it third person). I thought Oblivion was incredibly boring though and couldn't play for more than a few hours. That's just my personal taste, of course.

I think DeS/DaS is far more like a Castlevania: SotN/Bushido Blade crossover, which is far more appealing to me.

I would personally say Ninja Gaiden. While I do think some people in this thread are underrating Demon's Souls difficulty, it is still a challenging game, but a lot of the difficulty comes down to strategy more than skill. Ninja Gaiden requires combat mastery and quick reactions. Demon's Souls requires the same but to a lesser extent. To me, it is much more forgiving if you are talking about a first playthrough, especially with the plethora of healing items and the ability to summon other people. Now, if you are talking about higher difficulties, Ninja Gaiden easily takes the crown.

Thanks for answering!

When I first played NG on the Xbox I had an incredibly hard time with the game. I got stuck on the final bosses of the first two chapters as well as the first encounter with Alma in the cathedral (I got stuck here for weeks.. longest I've ever been stuck in a game). I enjoyed the challenge as it was more a mistake by me than cheapness by the enemy so I continued until I got it right. I eventually went on to be able to play the game on Master Ninja with moderate success (I use moderate loosely ). I blasted through NG2 on Normal (Path of the Warrior?) as a lot of the skills were transferrable. It would seem Demon/Dark Souls is right up my alley if you're punished for mistakes rather than just overpowered and outnumbered. Skyrim is my most awaited game of the year and I'll be putting 100's of hours into it but I think Dark Souls will be my follow up game from everything I'm hearing.

No problem. I had a similar exprience with Devil May Cry 3. I had an incredibly difficult time finishing the game the first time. Granted, this had more to do with the fact that it was one of my first experiences with the action genre. If I tried it again today, I probably wouldn't find it near as hard.

As far as the core gameplay, there is nothing cheap about Demon's Souls. You might get outnumbered, but this is generally a result of poor strategy. The trick is to figure out how to approach and isolate enemies. You don't really want to be taking on multiple enemies at a time in the game. You also shouldn't get overpowered by enemies unless you don't put much thought into how you allocate your stats (you have a lot of freedom in the level-up process). The other way you might be overpowered by enemies is if you try some levels (or parts of levels) earlier than you should. The good news is that you will find out very quickly if you are underleveled.

I wonder if Dark Souls will have a pause button....

No, there still isn't one.

I have to say I think they are absolutely retarded dicks for not putting a pause button in TBH.

That is the thing I hate most about these games because I have to pause games quite often to do other things or because i'm interrupted.

I do think it's so people can't pause when they're getting invaded/invading.

But I think, they should let you pause it otherwise imo. So I agree.

What they should do is allow you to pause it and it will automatically take you into offline mode unless someone has already invaded your world.

that's what I meant, but did not say :)
