You're de-railing this thread. I suggest you just stay out of it from now on.

please tell me how im "de-railing" this thread? from what i rem i post a pretty clean comment then i get attacked.. so if you show me legitament stuff ill leave.. bc im not gonna have someone come at me for no reason

Because it's descended into petty squabbling and name-calling which bears no relation whatsoever to the OP and you're the one at the heart of it. I've entered the thread to draw a line under it without resorting to formal moderation, please respect that.

look at my comments before yo_john17 commented on it. it was perfectly fine before that. so im not de-railing anything if people dont like what i said then ignore if but im not having someone come at me when i CLEARLY said nothing wrong and its proven through my comments

@sweatface

If you were right or wrong doesn even matter at this point just let the whole thing go. And everyone else should too. It got out of hand and is pointless.

...but ya have to Give credit to Gears of War....

Actually, Gears of War deserves no credit. kill.switch does.

OT: This is very, very disappointing from Sony, even though I like Uncharted.

Hmm..I think what they said was that Sony encouraged using realistic approach instead of fantasy like how they encouraged using Move for uncharted 3, but Naughty Dog refused.

It wasn't forced, and honestly I think Sony did the correct thing in this case. And no people, Uncharted has nothing in common with gears of war when it comes to setting and everything, just the genre is similar. Uncharted released like 7 months after gears of war that is hardly enough to take "inspiration".

there is nothing wrong with taking elements or influence from other games... there is certainly no need to go all fanboy and defensive about it.

Quite clearly Uncharted has taken influences from Gears.

Just like Forza has taken influence from GT.

pretty much this, this is one of the positives of the competition thats sadly overlooked/lost in all these flame wars.

Actually, if you talk about Uncharted and its mechanics, as well as Gears...Headhunter on the Dreamcast should get the credit for starting everything in terms of cover mechanics.

Even to this day Headhunter stands out as feeling modern. Sandbox + stealth + cover system.

It really is. For the time at least it was mindblowing.

It was one of those games where every moment you had something new you've never seen before which happens so rarely these days. Today there are 2-3 never before seen set pieces and you got a AAA game...

There was a sequel to Xbox and PS2 however it was much worse than original and just another middle of the road action game by that point.

When I played Uncharted 1, immediatly Headhunter came to mind.

Well, ignoring another console's strength is a surefire way to go extinct. Can't fault Sony for their request and I damn sure can't fault Naughty Dog for the results. Sonic, Mortal Kombat, Forza, Saints Row--some of the best series out there drew inspiration from other franchises. It's what they do with that inspiration that I care about. And if the result is another great game, I got no complaints.

Now, if only somebody would try to make a game similar to Heavy Rain. I need a fix!

sad to hear. PS is not the shooter box and Sony fail'd to understand that. to many shooters on the market as it is.

I think PS3 is more of a shooter box than xbox. Just look at all the exclusives that have come out and that are coming out for ps3 that are shooters. Plus on top of that ps3 gets every multiplatform shooter as well. If you wanted to play shooters and Halo isn't something that intrigues you too much, I'd say PS3 has got you covered.

I think you failed to understand the point of MDJ's post. The Playstation brand isn't a shooter brand. PS1/2 gamers were not interested in getting a slew of shooters as the mainstay of their next gen gaming. Sony turned PS into a shooterbox with it's early emphasis on shooters.

Thankfully Uncharted did not slavishly copy the gritty shooter with Naughty Dog retaining a lot of it's charm and platforming roots in the franchise.

Still I do hope ND release a Jak HD collection and then follow it up with Jak 4 now that they have 3 Uncharted games done. Give Nathan Drake a break until PS4 I think.

All art is derivative. It's about what you add to what was done before that either makes you great or mediocre.

How could I have missed this? Thanks for bringing it up, I stand corrected.
