So they sold out to be like Xbox.. I knew it. I knew first party titles always felt and look liked Xbox titles

Is this serious?

Surely letting a great game's mechanics influence some of your decision isn't a bad thing?

Nooo .. but to change the concept based another game is the problem. Just to let you know the Uncharted of today did not start off that way.. it had a different concept.. how much of that changed based on them wanting Uncharted to be more what like XBOX games specifically Gears,we will never know. to answer you question... Yes it can be especially when its beyond the stage influence and just outright taking the Idea.

pressure from xbox shooters? like which shooters exactly...

Obviously Gears of War.

And I always new there was something special about Uncharted

i dont find gears of war that interesting.. looks like a clunky slow game with guys on steriods lol

whether you like it or not isn't the point. when I first played uncharted (I can't remember if it was 1 or 2) I remember thinking early on the guys that made it had obviously played GEARs. The influence undeniable but I don't see why that's such a bad thing. It was obvious from the get go that UNCHARTED wasn't exactly original. It came out at a time where it appeared as if sony had lost their exclusives so they needed something that could compete with the original ips coming out for the competition...and hey it worked.

I'm curious..what parts showed influence exactly?

the parts that were copied from killswitch obviously

I think Uncharted took some bits from Gears in terms of its cover mechanics and shooting. Outside of that, I can't really draw any coorelations. As you said, we don't quite know how much is drawn from, but I certainly don't see much change from their old E3 showings.

But we dont have to know how much, just fact that did. Your missing my point and it has nothing to do Mechanics. I have plenty times, that the 1st Party titles from this gen, Dont feel like PlayStation titles( style of games we had on PS2&1) but games geared toward the XBOX crowd. It seems that SONY's 1st Party developers "Sold out There orgin IP's to make more XBOX games" Notice they are licensing those IP's to other ppl then pretending to be involved with.

The trouble with that is first party IPs like god of war, killzone existed on PS2, plus Lbp and infamous aren't what you would call core X box titles ,in a general sense there is some truth to what you say just that it's not a Sony 1st party phenomenon, It stems more from X box and it being essentially being a PC in console form ,thus bringing with it an emphasis of fps and western rpg's ,genres that where on the playstation  but mixed in with the other genres, so the change is more an all  across the board Industry one , just has PC gaming moving to consoles has effected us, another important factor is the migration of PS staples onto PSP and some to DS also Sony focusing on the data that said has Sony's time in the console business has past  the average gamer as aged along with them.
