Forums - Gaming - 3DS or Vita. Which one will take Japan?

All Hail Vita.
tap tap tap goes the drum.

All Hail Vita.
The horns begin to play soft at first

All Hail Vita
A hush comes over the crowd, louder the drums begin to sound tap- tap- parrraap.
bum bum bum, the low bass is encapsulating now.

All Hail Vita
explosions of fireworks emerge high in the sky, the crowd is immense and mob like- fearful of something so great, so wonderful.. that they grasp at the familiar straws.
This is unlike anything they have ever seen, the festival of lights and sounds, its all too much, too great.
This is new, this hasn't been seen before... not like this

Silence and smoke fills the air now
One final loud bang on the drum
Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

The smoke clears.....

Choice? It's an illusion. It was never ours to make, we have known all along-
All.
Hail.
Vita.

3DS. Vita has quite some good games coming for it but it lacks the big hits (Pokemon, Mario Kart, Mario 2d, monster Hunter, ...)

Ofcourse, a new huge franchise could be established in the next gen

I think the Vita will win. In Japan they seem to prefer handhelds to consoles. So the games being ported over from the consoles to the Vita could make the difference. Most likely because people who wouldn't have even bought a console to begin with or would rather have the console game on their handheld. Also we don't know for sure if Monster Hunter will be exclusive to the 3DS.

But really who knows....

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Now the only thing I don't like from 3DS is the "second analog", if Nintendo making another mistake again... I don't know what will happen with 3DS in Japan

Its too early to tell,tbh.

If MH doesn't get ported to the Vita in some form, it's going to seriously lag behind. And with its hefty price tag, it's going to feel the burn of mobiles more so than 3DS.

And things could easily spill over to the West; unfortunately, Vita in my eyes will do worse than PSP...

Vita has a big screen and will probably allow you to load your own videos...
Portable pr0n on a 5 inch screen? I think we have a winner. :P

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

3DS has Kingdom Hearts coming as well

it's gonna be a bit hard for PSV, as the 3DS has taken Monster Hunter and Tekken from the Psp, and has the Nintendo games (which alone made the Ds what it is)

imagine if Assassin's Creed and Megaman were not cancelled : (

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

It will be interesting duel for sure:

One one hand we have 3DS with huge titles - Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, MH but there's uncertainity how will market react to second analog add-on and it already suffered a lot of PR damage in initial months.

On the other hand we have Vita with huge wave of diffrent smaller titles, good reception so far and riding on the wave of PSP success.

Whatever happens i think marketshare split will be much closer this time.

I would usually go with the portable that has Monster Hunter on it, but it's on the 3DS and everyone knows that I bash that thing for no reason... so I'll go with the Vita.

Edit:  But I'm not Japanese, so it's all up in the air.
