Forums - Gaming - 3DS or Vita. Which one will take Japan?

I really don't see what the Vita has that could possibly make it competitive in the long run in Japan. It has no real big sellers. Most of the titles that could appeal to Japanese gamers announced so far are either ports/remakes, and/or also coming to the PS3. Remakes typically sell half or less of what the original sold, and add the fact that they're also heading to the PS3, and you'll have even less than that.

Vita has a big screen and will probably allow you to load your own videos...
Portable pr0n on a 5 inch screen? I think we have a winner. :P

3D portable pr0n says hello!

5 inch is alot, rofl, but nothing can beat 3D boobs imho.

Oh, and you are able to make your own video, ohoh, family-friendly ninty is getting a problem here.
We just need the pro-3DS model with two better cameras and two pads. lol

With Capcom abandoning Vita, the 3DS has already won. Sony doesn't have any big hitters from this gen left while Nintendo has quite a few and I doubt Sony will be able to create a big franchise.

Sony really got f*cked by Monster Hunter jumping ship...

Vita has no real system sellers and has absolutely no games to counter the 3DS lineup.

I think Sonys Vita is in real trouble even before its release.

It's obviously 3DS. It already had Pokemon, Mario, and now... Monster Hunter. Sony have to do more than triple time to take out 3DS. Maybe create a game themselves or promote another 3rd party game maybe God Eater to take on Monster Hunter.

Square-Enix tried to do that but they failed. Only Sega managed to release good Monster Hunter-like games (Phantasy Star Portable). But nothing so far can beat Monster Hunter's formula of success. Fast and enjoyable multiplayer action you can bring anywhere.

A bit early to tell, but I think 3DS will be the king of the next gen handheld gaming market for at least the next 1 1/2-2 years not only in Japan but worldwide. After that period, Vita might get some good games, so we will maybe see good Vita sales numbers.

What the fuck is the point of this thread? Vita isn't even out yet and it's too early to claim victory when none of them haven't seen a holiday season yet. It's a shame people are using a game that no one plays over in the west to fuel their CONSOLE WARZ.

I'd like to believe that the Vita's superior tech, online, media features etc will ultimately set it apart from the 3DS in the long run. I don't know where the smart phone / android type market exactly stands in Japan but I still don't see 3DS having much longevity in the future against all that.

I just really struggle with the 3DS in general though, feels to me like the only leg it has to stand on is it's games and I'm not totally convinced about them yet either.
