3DS has tri-Ace and Fire Emblem

VITA's in trouble

3DS has tri-Ace? What do you mean like they're planning to make all their games 3DS exclusive and where do we know that?

As for my prediction, I'll go with 3DS hands down.

tri-Ace has deemed 3DS worthy of time. They have tri-Ace's support. 3DS Wins.

My heart and brain are with 3DS, but it is pretty unpredictable actually.

That would make more sense if you choose Heart or Brain not... Xxample: My Heart says 3DS My brain says Vita

Nintendo 3DS Victoire!!

It might actually be close, but then again the 3ds has a small lead and the already price cut.

So you're saying that if tri-Ace is willing to support the 3DS with games like Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile, then any dev will.

Or are you saying that you as a mega-tri-Ace fan see that as reason enough to buy a 3DS and it's the same for everyone (which is a funny idea hehe).

Keep in mind they've supported all the Nintendo portables except GBA. -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tri-Ace#Titles

Both plus more.

The swing of mid-tier Japanese 3rd party support still seems evenly divided, possibly even with an edge to Vita, but the Vita's biggest third party titles are currently (much like many of the 3DS' biggest titles have been so far) ports, ports, and ports. FFX, MGS Collection, UMvC3, these will do little more for Vita than, say, OoT3D, SSFIV, and SF64 did for 3DS

We'll need to get a better picture of the original software lineup of Vita before we can effectively make that call, but the problem is while Vita's accumulating that lineup, 3DS sees the heavy hitters emerge, and real, Japan-targeted heavy-hitters at that, and the momentum shall swing

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

the 3ds of course.

3DS, by far. I don't think the Vita will be able to outsell the Gamecube in Japan. This is a no brainer.

I dunno its very hard to tell because Sony could make some drastic moves next year to compete with 3DS and completely change the playing field. I mean who's to say if Vita sales are lack luster that Sony won't pull a PS3 and 3DS and cut hardware prices down to 199.99$ or even God forbid 169.99$. Then who's to say Sony won't pull a rabbit out of its hat and announce an exclusive Final Fantasy or pay off Capcom to bring an MH game to Vita.

However as it currently stands Nintendo has the key titles that make Sony's platforms successful. Nintendo has Metal Gear Solid and Monster Hunter. Throw in Tekken and you've got three franchises that are usually Sony exclusive now making their way not multiplatform but exclusively to 3DS. Add to that the fact that 3DS will cost almost 100$ cheaper then Vita, the fact that Vita's battery life is actually no better then 3DS. Add in the fact that Nintendo is likely working hard to get Square-Enix's support with DQ and likely a future FF game and you've got a recipe for success in Japan. Of course throw in a true Pokemon title and two years down the road a New Super Mario Bros 3DS and Nintendo will have Japan in the bag, unless Sony does something drastic!

However I believe that both Vita and 3DS will sell fewer units in Japan then their predecessors. In fact the fight might be a lot closer in scale with 3DS winning not by a mile but a foot!

This shoudn't even be a question anymore. Now that Monster Hunter joins the ranks of Pokemon, Mario, and possibly Dragon Quest.....it's 3DS victory.
