So...Nintendo is still doomed?

Nintendo is... having a hard time right now. Game over? Not so sure about that, but it seems that while Nintendo has focused on more traditional games and gaming devices, the world around it has been changing. Nintendo seems to be slow to adapt to change and it WILL make the situation even more challenging for them. It's not helping that it's the more casual crowd that likes these new Apple products, Android, etc., because without that casual crowd, Nintendo is going to need very strong third party support.

This is a somewhat exciting time to live.

so whats new here? Nintendo is always do0m3d!!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

This guy loses any ounce of credibility when he claims that Iphone and Android games are a threat to Nintendo's markets.

Daily Finance already wrote an article called 'Why MicroSoft Will Never Be Great Again', I made a thread about it: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=133553

Now we just need a 'Why Sony Will Never Be Great Again' so everyone can be equally unhappy.

"Can't sell their product even at fire sales prices"

Assuming he's talking about the 3DS, it is selling incredibly at a price that few would describe as cheap, much less 'fire sale'

Why do people feel the need to repost this shit? The formula is simple - post something contentious and watch the page views roll in. Grow up.

I love how this writer obviously knows shit about the games industry.

Console manufacturer's have ups and downs, Sony was in a far worse position after PS3 launched and look at them today still standing strong and if PS4 performs well they could return to their glory days of PS2. Nintendo themselves were on a steady decline since the NES yet with Wii and DS suddenly they not only regained their former glory but did even better then they had initially. Microsoft lost billions of dollars on the X-Box and now with the 360 they are really profitable and according to this article secure.

Fact is even if WiiU and 3DS bomb their is nothing to prevent Nintendo from making a huge comeback in a generation or two. Nintendo isn't a company that's going to fold under pressure they are going to keep fighting till they regain their glory, then repeat the cycle.

The articles conclusion about Nintendo either going down or going third party is highly uneducated. The writer obviously has no knowledge of the industry. Nintendo has over 13-billion in reserves they have plenty of time to get their shit together and release another big hit. If they license third party they will loose all of their hardware profit which would only seal the coffin.

If everything goes like it should Nintendo will sell enough 3DS's and WiiU's to break even if not profit a bit. Then a generation or two later Nintendo will make a glorious comeback and the cycle will repeat.

As for MS and Sony being safe, lol again showing this writers misguided and lack of education with regards to the games industry. Their is no such thing as safe in the industry. Sega thought they were safe and guess what they went down. Atari thought they were safe and they went down. Sony looked like they would lead again with PS3 like they did PSOne and PS2 yet they lost billions.

The industry goes up and down. That's just how it works and none of the companies are going to remain at the top forever! Nintendo may be loosing a little money but they are still very much in the game and there is no reason to doubt that they could make a huge comeback!

Erm...going by this article I'd say that the author is unaware of a few major factors regarding the 3DS and the U:

1) The 3DS has been flying off shelves since the price cut

2) The 3DS has plenty of first party system sellers to come yet

3) Going by what we've heard from both IBM and AMD the U is going to be 4 or 5 times more powerful than the PS3 and 360...given that, third party multiplatform games will have far superior eye candy and will attract hardcore gamers to the platform

4) Nintendo have guaranteed that the U will fly off shelves in Japan thanks to Dragon Quest X being launched either at launch or soon after launch

The article is a joke. There will always be a market for games and Nintendo will always have an audience. Just because Nintendo has had a couple of rough years people think Nintendo is doomed - they have experienced worst and lived through it.

It also doesn't matter if videogames die out - Nintendo can move to a different market. Nintendo wasn't always games and they don't have to be.

Shares actually just define confidence from investors. Like the previous investors meeting, I think many of Nintendo investors now hate game and doesn't now how game company work. That's why they can't see how game will survive in this rough world especially by maintaining Nintendo ways.... And I think that's the reason of low shares....

I believe and I hope Nintendo will survive this. 3DS is not as bad as many people/article says. It's just they release in a bad time. Like earthquake in Japan, and recession in US.
