Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Officially Confirms 3DS Peripheral

This is the worst peripheral I've seen so far.
Also, MH thrives on portability, how in the hell is that thing portable?

If you think about it, why would MH even need a 2nd nub?? The series thrived on PSP for YEARS without it. It cant just be for this game

ds fans like a 2 joystick now?

It doesn't look good, it will reduce the systems portability and depending on how much weight it adds make long gaming sessions uncomfortable. Developers now have to create another control scheme adding unnecessary pressure on them, or ignore it all together which renders this add-on pointless. This just screams bad idea to me personally. And it's also completely pointless as hundreds of games and dozens of systems that are regarded as being some of the best ever and having only 0 or 1 sticks can attest to. There is no need at all for a second circle pad, just good game design in the first place is all that's needed, if you struggle use the motion controls/touchscreen. The sheer pointlessness of it just enrages my soul with the fire of a thousand screaming suns.

Think of the honeys you'll get sporting one of these around!!

Will that segment the consumers?

Looks ugly.

This is interesting that Nintendo didn't jump straight to dual analog in the first place. Leaving off the 2nd shoulder buttons would have been no biggie, but they really should have designed it for easier portability and included a 2nd analog on day one.

Am I the only early adopter that doens't have a problem with this?  Although, come to think of it, most of the people complaining seem to not own the system.

Now don't get me wrong, I can see why people are complaining, but as long as two things happen, I don't care.

1.)  No redesign untill the holidays in 2012....spring 2013 would be perfect.  At that point, I would welcome a redesign with better battery life, a better (and yes, still 3D screen) and maybe a built in second analog stick.

2.)  Nintendo comes out and says that this is not necesarry for any future games.  I dont think its a bad peripheral, but it should be the 3DS's classic controller.  Another option, but not in any way mandatory.

I'll probably buy it - it'll be nice for Monster Hunter and any FPS (Nintendo of America should package it with a Call of Duty, if they want it to do well).  If I do get it it will be used exclusively for when I'm at home or maybe on long (plane) trips.   The whole  reason I like my 3DS (and don't want a VITA) is beause it's super portable and doesnt add to much bulk when I'm also carrying around a tablet (sometimes a laptop) and a cell phone.  This attachment would kill that portability.

I never thought Nintendo could get any worse from the SNES days but they have :O.

How have they. Just trying to figure out why this add on is so bad. Look like a good idea to me. Why is it that all of the "hard core" complaining about more buttons. Could it be that Nintendo is doing it. If Sony did this it would be the best thing since sliced bread.
