Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Officially Confirms 3DS Peripheral

I still think this device looks like a retarded tumor but I actually thought the 3DS was a little too small. I bought this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwY-HtBQEPg and I use it all of the time.

Maybe the newly announced add on will feel good despite looking like ass (like a Gamecube controller).

I'm sorry, but this is really terrible news. I thought that Nintendo would be smarter than this. The 3DS does not need a second analogue stick. If there was to be one, it should have came in the first 3DS model. The fact that it's an add-on means that Nintendo is really screwing themselves over. It's like motion+, not many Wii games have taken advantage of it because it should've been tech in the Wiimote from day one. This is gonna be the exact same thing as that. Nintendo is trying to correct whatever mistakes they felt they might have made with the 3DS, but you can't do that on a hardware front when it's key features like this.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

Poor judgement by Nintendo. Gamers will make fun of this.

can it do WiiU now?

well it is funny to see if Vita will have all this issue; if it will well Who is going to blame Sony to have release a product that we know from before launch date to have problems? This will means only do not give a shit about customers and just want their money!

XB360 ROD, DS phat design, Wii motion without motion+, PSP go away, macbook toaster, ipad not-3G, Vita split 3G/not-3G, ...etc

They all just want our money!

Wow they're really Nintendonuts for doing this. It's just way too big and ugly, I mean I can understand people could take it out when they don't need it but they just sacrificed one of their biggest advantage to Vita which is portability.

Nintendo feeling the Vita heat?

Pressure of 3rd party dev, because of ports from 3DS to Vita and the other way around.

Vita will have its own problems with price, self-reliance, battery and yes heat, processor-heat to be excactly.

Processor-heat, battery, self-reliance? We know almost nothing about that...

Processor-heat was discussed very early. Sony decided to design the vita not psp-go-like because of heat problems.

Battery is 3DS-like, there are people out there complaining about 3-5 hours gaming. And self-reliance, i mean PS3-ports or cross-platform developing is a nice idea, but there are obv problems. Should i buy 2 copies of the same game or should every developer sell both PS3/Vita games bundled.

So i can see some problems coming up,

but we know almost nothing because it's not on the market right now, that's right.

Nevertheless, some people act like Vita has already won the fight for months now.

IF they release a redesign with a second analog stick (and more buttons) they will announce it right at the press conference. They surely won't wait till late next year to split the customer base. This would be incredibly retarded. Screwing less than 5 million people over is bad enough - waiting until after the Christmas season would flat out destroy the platform.

So far all we know is that Capcom helped develop this thing. So this could just as well be used for Monster Hunter only.

By the way: Is it optional? I would never use this to play Monster Hunter, no matter how much easier the controls get.

hmm i see this as an add on to regular consoles so i don't see what the big deal is to be honest. sure it looks ugly but how can you make such a thing sexy?

it looks comfy though :)

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

While I don't think a second analog stick is necessarily a bad thing, I don't like the approach Nintendo is taking to provide the nub. Unfortunately it's one of those things where you can only say, in hindsight, Nintendo should have made it in the original 3DS design.
