SunofKratos said: So far the amazing spiderman has over 340 M worldwide. Thats a very good opening, In the end the movie will making something between 700-900m worldwide. Not bad i would say. And for some guys wondering the decline in the US. What do you expect. 1. Its a reboot with a totally new cast and not a long awaited sequel 2. The third spiderman was critically a failure and become the worst spiderman of the three so its only normal that the name spiderman is hurt because of part 3 and many people lost interest after part three So anybody which call amazing spiderman a box office failure has no plan hows movie buisness work.

It's still a domestic failure if you compare ticket sales, no two ways about it. SONY will not admit it though.
a 40-50% drop in ticket sales is close to unprecedented for a franchise this big. As I said that kind of a drop is mind boggling. I don't think spidey 3 was hated enough to justify that kind of a drop.
Yes it's a reboot, but the most popular thing about spidey is..spider-man. The original cast was excellent in my opinion, but that's not what the majority of the audience felt...so I don't see how they got so attached as to not even turn up for this new movie.
Lets not even compare TASMS's ticket sales or even gross to Spidey 1's...the picture gets even worse.
Overseas is saving it right now.
Now if the movie had Word Of Mouth like Batman Begins we could be set up to a TDK-esque rise for part 2...but that's all in the air. Actually Batman Begins ticket sales were pretty dire compared to the original Batmans...I can only hope we see a TDK-eque rise for this new spider-man series.
Long live Raimi.
