And $16 million overseas according to some sources.  Not bad for a movie disliked by a lot of critics.

Hobbit breaks the December record for Friday with $37.5 m. Beats ROTK's Wednesday opening day, but not by much. Audience is not as much for Hobbit obviously with the ticket price being up and 3d markup.
Word of mouth has to be good for it to reach $400 now.

Skyfall is crawing to the billion mark and The Hobbit seems like it can make big. Could we have 4 billion boxoffice hits :O

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Hobbit won't make it before the end of the year because it's releasing too late I think.

Well at least we'll know the first movie to hit a billion next year

The Hobbit is almost at $100 million dollars world wide just with Friday's numbers.

what happened to Paramount this year. This is by far the worst year they had in over 5 years. They may not make it to $1b this year.
They will win the weekend next week though - they have 3 movies coming out. I think they really want to make it over $1b for the year.

:0 it cant be that bad! One viewing from me and I will give yea or neah.

At least most people are saying it's very good, so I'm not really worried. Will have to wait until after Christmas to see it.

Do they have cinemas in Iceland?

You right about that they had a very weak year even if you add the Dreamworks Animation pictures.  Thinks are not going to be better next year either since Dreamworks Animation pictures movies will be distributed by 20th Century Fox for the next five years starting with The Croods in March of next year.  Loosing the rights to the Marvel pictures also hurt a lot they would have easily been over a billion this year if they would have still had the distribution right to The Avengers which they produced but was distributed Walt Disney Studios which pretty much will produce and distribute all future Marvel superheros movies except Spider Man.

I was hoping that the Hobbit would make over $100 million dollars domestically on its opening weekend it still did good and it helped the domestic gross and attendance surpass last years numbers with still over two weeks left in the year.
