I would like to see Sony take Ninty to court(just for the mega flare-war that would ensue)

but I doubt something would come from this. didn't Sony "allegedly" have their motion controls since like 2001, nothin came from that.

while true motion tech was around before Ninty and Sony made theres pluse there 2 different principles behind both motion controls which makes them different. Sony's use led light and i'm not sure about Ninty but there has to be some difference or someone had it before both and they paid them off lol. hey they may have already settled out of court?

yea a flame war. 2007 all over again right. time will tell. not sure it would end well. could have a real negative effect seeing 90% of VGC getting permabanned.

Same could be said about this thread and patent.  They both use different technology to achieve what seems to be similar.  What is described in the patent isn't the exact copy of Wii U tech.   The Sony tech isn't the same as the Nintendo tech.  I am just going to quote a user from NEOGAF which means I am very lazy right now but I believe this guy knows what he is talking about.....

Indeed. The Wii U controller doesn't have a rear-facing camera. This patent is about using a rear camera on a secondary device to "peek" into a game world and show AR-esque elements from it (if you look at the screenshot).

With what we've seen on Wii U, the tablet shows a DIFFERENT camera angle (like the one from someone throwing the ball on Wii Sports U baseball) to the action on screen, controlled via Motion Controls.

When it does have the same camera angle (like with the web browser magnifying glass), it's controlled via accelerometers and gyroscopes, not a rear camera like the patent says so.

Similar ideas, but implemented differently. Nintendo will be fine.

Lastly - this is a software patent, not a hardware one. Sega owned the patent for switching camera views in games while Super Mario 64 was in development, for example. Software patents are hard to prove in the videogaming world."

i think its safe to say we avoided some heat with me sitting in the middle being from both camps so i'm not sure wht you mean by same can be said for this thread.

i've already said it was a vague patent in the post below the op which is also my post. i already figured this out but i hope it helps others who enter this thread looking for a flame war cause i fill as the op i should monitor the thread and make sure the rules are not broken.

its my thread and my job and i will report those who fail to follow those rules.

and stop being lazy. your posting history is a.ok in my book

I wish more posters would be like you Marcus. On a happy note, you tried Deus Ex yet? Absolutely amazing, it feels as if Imma run into Rutger Hauer, or Harrison Ford in the next corner (Bladerunner for those that don't understand the reference). Anyway, I gotta take a break from Deus and do some nightly Dragon Nest runs hehe.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

It's also been rumored that Sony has the original patents on breathing, lasagna, and shoes.

Companies do this all the time, they patent things so that they can get loyalties for them later, but then not use them, instead they let competitors use them so that they take the financial nosedive, and if they failed, they are going to scrap the idea for the time being, but if they succeed, they will going to develop on that and going to better on that tech so that they can get a better success
its a term called "Market Bloom" , Motorolla , Nokia , Microsoft , Apple, Google, LG , Samsung all do it all the time.

Console companies almost never invent really new stuff, because generally they can use tech only when it becomes affordable enough for relatively cheap devices, so when it's not new anymore, actually. Obviously, though, each one finds a more or less original way to combine different techs into something useful for gaming, and they obviously patent such implementations and designs, mainly to protect not only their ideas, but also themselves from patent suits by competitors and patent trolls.

Great... Sony patented augmented reality from a TV image... Not a big blow to the Wii U as the SDF like to says. But it's interesting to see how gaming company work on the same ideas at almost the same time (AR on the 3DS and on Vita, analogic stick...)

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

I love how the fact that I see the complete bullshit in this post and am automatically labeled Nintendo Defense Force by none other than Sony's biggest fans on this site. *insert biggest possible eyeroll here.*

I'm going to go back to playing my PSP and laugh at you all.

i think the fact that you completely lost your shit earlier shows just how emotionally invested in this you are :

"and the NeoGAF user that pointed it out is a retard."

"understand what the fuck I said, then look at how fucking retarded your post was."

with replies like that i would have thought your mom was killed by a poster or something... its just like the other guy following me from thread to thread attacking me needlessly  and posting crap on my wall then telling me to "let it go" irony at its finest right there
