Forums - Gaming - Is anybody else tired of all the List Threads, Eliminations games, Sales talk threads, Dup Threads?

I've been posting a lot of gaming related news stories. They usually get 10-30 replies and then die, so obviously you're right in that the kinds of threads you mention are just more popular. But I don't know if that's something specific here, I think that would happen on nearly any forum.

Nobody cares to discuss news unless its highly controversial (like when someone unveils a new DRM scheme or something), you need to give people something to bicker over, which is why the list war threads are so easy

The trick is to create a thread that contributes information but that also encourages discussion and multifarious opinions

I know, this is what happened to my thread about PS3 not having enough RAM for cross-party chat. Everyone comes to criticise/defend the console.

But I like providing information whether I get 1000 replys or not. I'm fine with getting a few replys. If I wanted hits I would just make a thread called 'X console sucks balls' and I would be guaranteed to have many replys.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Its the nature of the beast. Forums often are an excuse for people to trash on things they don't like / have never played / have zero intention of playing / or just generally act more rediculous then they can in real life. When your on a computer chatting to people that live all around the globe who you'll probably never actually meet in can bring about the worse in some people's cases.

The Elimination games I totally agree with, I don't see why people post so much in them but I just stay away from there they certainly are enjoyable for those who post in them so I got no problems with keeping them active.

And if you have a problem with sales threads........................eh your just on the wrong website that's what makes this community unique.

maybe you should find something else to do than stick to these forums , i suggest kotaku.

yeah, I hate those kinds of threads too. That's why I never enter them... >__> I know, it's kind of a hard concept to grasp

Same...

But they're still fucking annoying... each and every one, elimination games especially.

I pretty much avoid the majority of threads on this forum for the same reasons mentioned in the op. Same thing, every week...

Exactly this. I hate when people say this so and so game sucks and don't have a reason for it or even worse just make up lies about the game. Unfourtuantley that's all across VGC. Liking a game better than another is a different thing and putting down a game just because it's popular is another

Yeah, I'm also sick of the 3rd parties don't care about Nintendo ones and Microsoft vs. Sony: The thread # 5,670,321 or whatever we're on now.

I totally agree with you about the elimination threads. There are a lot of them going on at the same time. I don't mind one or two at a time, but when they take a big portion of the hot topic section, then yeah, it becomes a problem. That's why I rarely come here. Half of the first page in the hot topic section is filled with elimination threads.

Oh, and the Call of Duty ad is incredibly annoying. That's another reason why I rarely come here; the ads on VGC are some of the annoying ones I've encountered.

I guess we've reached that stage in our relationship where the sex isn't as exciting as it used to be, we've run out of things to talk about, and we don't really go out anymore. We're just going through the motions and the only reason you're still with me is because of the children.

Well, nobody's making you stay. I'm still a sexy woman and somebody out there will be glad to have me. I can raise these kids on my own. It's not like you were ever around, anyway! You think I don't know about that whore you go see when you're "working overtime"? You disgust me. That's right. Go. Run to your underage forums! I give you the best years of my life and THIS is how you repay me!? You used to think my list wars, graphics threads, and elimination games were cute. NOW YOU DON'T LIKE THEM?

You gave me Herpes, you bastard. I hope you die.

Somewhere along the way, my analogy got really carried away. :(
