Forums - Sony - SONY: cross-game chat not possible on PS3 because it lacks RAM

Meh, I don't like talking to people over the phone let alone during a game. Either text me or talk to me in person. Though if it's that big of an issue to some people, SONY should work to implement the feature in the PS4.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

It makes me sad so many people don't care for cross-game chat. There are some features on XBL and PSN people use and some people don't use like Netflix, HOME, ESPN, Hulu, etc, but cross-game chat is one of those features everyone, I mean EVERYONE uses. I don't know a single person on XBL that doesn't use cross-game chat or doesn't like it because it's just one of those features that have just makes XBL so damn good. The people that say they don't care for cross-game chat and either liars or have never used the feature before so they don't know how awesome it really is.

Crap, my xbox friends do NOT use cross game chat at all. They barely use headsets. I they dont care for it. I have used it once before and i thought it was stupid. I barely use a headset for my games let alone wanting to talk to someone who is not even playing a game im playing. What would that benefit me?? WOuld it not be easier to pick up my phone and call that person?? CGC waste of time for me

I think most people would agree it's a lot easier to send a party chat with a push of a button than to call someone on the phone because I have a feeling you don't have everyones phone number that is on your friends list. Who wants to run up a phone bill if it's someone out of state or even out of the country. Plus you can talk to more than one person in a party chat. I could come up with more reason if you want me to?

are you kidding me? they both require you to push one button i only have about 18 people on my friends list on PSN. 7 of those people are people who are my ACTUAL friends, not some jackass that friend requested me. I have all of my friends's numbers, These friends do not know each other. So a party chat would do me no good at all. I could kind of see where your coming from, if your a little kid with no cell phone and limited amount minutes. But im a grown man, who's always paid his own phone bills and call my friends from eveywhere or if that fails theres FB which they spend just as much time on anyway. So again CGC is useless for me. But if you can find some more reasons why im "missing out", lay it on me

It's still a lot simplier to send a party chat request then to call someone on the phone. I have about 75 friends on my friends list and about 28 being people I know personal so I don't plan on getting phone numbers of everyone on my friends list. I pay for my phone bill also, but I still don't want to give someone my phone number I don't know personally. What if I want to talk to that person for an extensive amount of time and they are not playing the same game? It's a lot easier to wear a mic than to have a phone to your ear while playing a game. What if I want talk to more than one person at a time? What if I get in a game of Halo and there are annoying little kids?? All that can be solved with Party chat and not a phone.

Thats just the thing, if im playing a game, i dont want to talk to ANYONE, period. Friend or Foe, let alone more than one. I dont play Halo, but if im playing COD and there are annoying people (which their are), there is a fantastic thing called mute. I have a bluetooth as well so i dont have to hold up my phone to use it, i never do. So, Party chat no point for me. If thats your thing, its your thing

I understand not wanting to talk to someone when your playing a deep engaging single player, but multiplayer is completely different. When I'm with a friend(s) playing Halo or COD I want to talk to my teammates because it's a very teamwork oriented games, so communication is key. If there is an annoying kid, I can get with my other 3-4 friends I'm playing with and start a party chat to avoid such people. I guess I'm just used to talking to people when I play games so it doesn't bother me.

i think its a neat feature i would have liked to have... if its simply because of a lack of ram how come its never been mentioned before that this could be the reason why there is no cgc... regardless of some people not caring for cgc it has been questioned for a long time, surely someone in the gaming world must have already considered lack of ram

At last, the raging fanboys have received their answer.

psn has that... what psn doesn't have is talking to people doing things unrelated to what you're doing

Well, at least they admit it openly and don't try to give us a bs explanation, which is welcome. Not having cross-game chat doesn't bother me too much but I guess some people may not like this.

why didnt they say this 5 years ago?

Amyway its not an issue, PS3 fans dont want it... unless they are holding a Vita and then they do or unless it is a ferature in PS4... they will want it then too.

No, don't lump everyone together please.

I don't care much for C-G-C, its necessisity baffles me.

This, I will never use this feature on Vita nor PS4.

I pretty much agree with Kowenicki. You guys just say that because this gen, you can't have it. But unless you are the non-talkative kind, or just play single-player games, you will find that CGC is a much needed feature.

pretty much this, if im playing COD or KZ3 why the hell would i wanna talk to my friend playing Nier?? that makes no sense to me. WOuldnt i want to talk to my teammates??? And if im playing a fighting game i need my full concentration so i really dont want to be talking to anyone.

im a non-talker, but could you explain to me why i need to be able to talk to someone who is not even playing the game im playing??? Cause my friends who have 360 dont even use the feature and think its useless too.
