Forums - Sony - SONY: cross-game chat not possible on PS3 because it lacks RAM

Wow...I can't imagine cross party chat would take very much ram at all.

I'm sure it doesn't, but consoles don't have much to play with. 256 megs of ram? I got a computer with 256 megs of ram back in.... 2000... For the release of Force Commander. For a PC that was an outdated amount of ram a few years later... Considering the graphics these systems are capable of, it's amazing they only have so little - but it's not a lot to play with for extra features.

I still think it would be technically possible though - they showed in the past that the Xbox OS requires less resources than PS3's - but I doubt it's worth them creating a new, more streamlined OS just to add a feature or two.

Some PlayStation users can finally move on now that Sony openly claims the problems with cross-game chat on the PS3. It really doesn't effect me, it would be nice for some to have, and it seems to be not that big of a deal anyway since the PS3 has been the best selling console worldwide. And it just received a pricecut. So now we know.

Well, at least they admit it openly and don't try to give us a bs explanation, which is welcome. Not having cross-game chat doesn't bother me too much but I guess some people may not like this.

why didnt they say this 5 years ago?

Amyway its not an issue, PS3 fans dont want it... unless they are holding a Vita and then they do or unless it is a ferature in PS4... they will want it then too.

No, don't lump everyone together please.

I don't care much for C-G-C, its necessisity baffles me.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

How many people do you think are excited for the PS Vita for cross game voice chat? Most people are excited for its tech and games than a party feature.

And it would be  pretty stupid of Sony to not include cross game chat in PSV after it being the highest asked feature on PS3.

I think you missed my point.

So your point is that all PS fans are always hypocritical and always make excuses when things don't go in their favor?

It's not only not exclusive to PS3, it's not even possible on PS3

Not gonna lie I find it pretty annoying as all hell there is no cross game chat. One of the many reasons I do all multi-plats on the 360. The PS4 really needs to improve on their interconnectivity and community issues in the online space because that is the area I think Sony really are the weakest.

The ps3 does cross game party chat.. just not cross game voice chat, why did SCEA say they're working on cross game voice chat for ps3 and that it would be coming to the console in the future?

I understandpeople's disappointment. Sony may have not said earlier that CGC wasn't possible because they were trying to get a workaround the ram issue. Guess they figured it a lost cause this late in the game. Sony will learn from this and build CGC into the PS4 OS. They have to.

i always thought that feature was stupid, always. Not having it does not bother me at all. It sucks for those who wanted it, but that's what xbox is for. It took them forever but at least they had the stones to admit it?? Maybe they were trying to get it, but after exhausting different avenues, they could not??

Its about time they said it. Im sure they tryed everything to try get to work
