But what good would infinite blues shells do me if I'm the only one playing?

That said, I don't think any company should get a patent for any type of game.

Yup. Software patent is stupid. But the patent system is pretty messed up already.

I feel like Demon's Souls beat them to it... I mean I could be wrong but it sounds a lot like Demon's Souls when you look at World Tendency, Ghost Players distracting monsters, and leaving messages for other players. Only difference is you have the option of playing with up to 3 other guys for a mission if you want to and have your body. So it's a single-player experience with the option for some short multiplayer in-between.

None the less, this will probably be seen as fresh, bold and risky... Just like NSMB for the Wii even though LittleBigPlanet happened already...

forget LBP what about those all those other platformers that had multi even before that game. Hell, Sonic 2 you and a buddy could play the entire game together in addition to the versus mode and that was on Genesis

That aswel. I remember playing with 3 other friends on the GBA in Sonics games long before LBP and NSMBW. None the less, you get what i'm saying.

Lots of people mentioned Demon soul but skipping the explanation part.
Similar =/= Same.

AFAIK, MMO inherently mean persistent world, not a drop-in ghost players. In that, we all share the same world but not seeing each other. I think. We'll just have to wait and see what it is if they actually have a product base on the concept.

Nope, that's still Demon's Souls. World Tendency was affected by everyone playing and what they did. Depending on where world Tendency was, areas of the game were locked or open, creatures were stronger or weaker, some NPC's were friendly or  Black Phantoms that kill on sight. And you can completely ignore the ghosts and their messages and it would feel like any other single-player experience.

This really just sounds like an expansion on the online aspects of Demon's Souls.

between you and me, i think some of these people havent even played Demon's Souls, thats why they are saying the things they are. Now im not suggesting that Ninty cannot expand on it, but lets not act like they are doing something new and unique, cause that would just be plain untruths

Are you saying Demon's Soul is an MMO? Because that is what the patent is about, note the "Massive" part. Anyway, your argument is  a double edged sword - you haven't played what Nintendo is meaning by that patent, now have you?

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

DS, Wii, Wii U, and this. The gambling continues.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Not saying Demon's Soul is an MMO, dont know where you got that. WHat Ninty is on about is NOT one either note the lack of MULTIPLAYER in the description. I cannot play an idea either. Anyone who ACTUALLY played Demon's Souls and read the OP would be an idiot not to be able to see the very close similiarites. thats like saying you played Street Fighter and i describe King of FIghters to you, your gonna think "that sounds like Street Fighter". You dont have to have played KOF to come to that conclusion

Let's stop pretending this is about anything other than vast selections of penis shaped houses in the next Animal Crossing.
