Smith & Wesson M&P 9MM. best hand gun i have ever used. I like it better than the glock 17. glock 17 jammed up too much for me. Also an instructor said they saw the same thing in class. Great home defense weapon.

A serious question: Why the hell do you guys need guns?

Its different depending on which country you are from. It may be hard for people to understand that are from countries where guns are banned. Owning a gun allows someone to defend their property and home. If someone is breaking in to harm to do something bad I know that I have that power to stop them from hurting my family members. Sometimes a baseball bat or pipe is not enough because you have to get close to them. You have more of a chance with distance you create. Also guns are good for hunting and sport. Even if a country bans guns the people that can get them for bad use are the ones who can get them through the black market. most people abide by the laws when you allow guns, and it allows people to better protect themselves. When guns are banned IMO the people who want to get them for a bad purpose can find ways to get them illegaly.

@Gun owners:
Well. I suppose that we do differ there. Hunting is not something I appreciate, and while shooting is fun, it's only because of its competitive qualities, as any sport is. Plus, shoot an intruder, and you could get in a huge lot of trouble (here, at least). I prefer bats, martial skills, etc (and should you surprise them, you won't really need distance).
For intruders, they are good for intimidation.

I'm pretty jealous. If I could move anywhere in the world it would be Canada.

There are some details I forgot, shotguns are not allowed to hold more than 2 shells without reloading (the shell in the barrell doesn't count), so if you bought a pump action shotgun in the UK, you could only fire 3 rounds before having to reload. Sawn-off shotguns are banned too.

Yeah there's a few more details about Canada too. Rifles are only allowed 5 round magazines and handguns are only allowed 10 round magazines. And for some reason .25 and .32 caliber weapsons are banned (no idea why). And armour piercing rounds are banned but that makes sense at least. And like the UK sawed off shotguns are banned. Oh and silencers are banned too.

So we're strict as hell compared to USA, but I guess still more lax than Europe (or at least the UK).

And that's cool to hear you'd like to live in Canada! You'd probably like it, there's something for everyone here.

That's not too strict, although it is tighter than US gun laws. Those extra details you mentioned are completely understandable (apart from no .25 and .32 caliber weapons).

And I like Canada, especially the people, my uncle lives there.

Still, the UK is far too strict, and most of Europe is the same.

no limiting clip/magazine size is pretty stupid. its so much fun to rapid fire guns, and it takes a lot of enoyment out of it, if after every 5-10 shots you have to put in a new clip.

my rifle has a 25 round banana clip, which has little prongs on the side, so i can attach another magazine to it a quikly flip it when one runs out. like in killzone, they have 2 mags taped together and when you reload he flips it.

That's pretty sweet man! Yeah I wish we didn't have the magazine capacity restrictions but I do at least understand why they're there.

The key is to shoot them on the way in, now while they're running away! If you get them while they're in your house you should be safe, but if they're outside your house you're probably in trouble.

I think you should be able to shoot intruders regardless.

If I ever saw myself in another 10 years, stealing from somebody's home, I would gladly let someone shoot me.

There really are some scum in this world who deserve nothing but a bullett to the head, I am very intolerant of criminals these days.

I have a move sharpshooter if that counts :(, Here in Sweden you are not allowed to have guns.... both pros and cons I guess with that.

Yeah true. Its kind of weird with not guns allowed. Its good because its harder for the criminals to get guns, but its bad because then the good honest people who just want guns for sport can't get them either. Also it can't be that hard for a criminal to get a gun on the black market, and if a criminal has a gun and he knows nobody else does it makes it easier for him to rob people.

I don't own a gun. Here in NZ people only own them for hunting or for sport. Nobody really has one for home or personal defence.

For the most part any criminal won't have one either (simply makes life more dangerous for them having one) and the police aren't routinely armed either which I think we share with Britain and not too many other countries.

I would have a gun if my country allowed it...

Anyway, hunting is a thing that I really don't appreciate. If I have to kill a animal in any time of my life, it's only for defense or surviving. The fact that Americans love slaughter is scary, and somewhat worrying for the rest of the world
