well then atleast their would be something fun. |
Nail on the head, even if it was for the lulz.

That would be awesome. To me FF9 is the best in the series since the 32 bit gen started.
OT: I'll get it eventually, but most likely not until a few months after it comes out. I still need to finish the first one.

After it falls in price. FF10 was the last time I got a FF at launch, that game was a colossal disappointment to me at the time, I really haven't loved a Final Fantasy since FF9 now. Then FF12 while evolutionary in some ways was terrible in others and overall I didn't like it, then came the mediocrity that is FF13, then came the abortion that is FF14 (the worst game I've played in my life at launch, but at least it can improve through patches).
After reading information about FF13-2 it sounds like a step in the right direction but so did FF12 compared to FF10, then it turned out far worse.

I just hate the way people say that if Final Fantasy XIII-2 has mini-games then everything will be a-ok. You would have to be a pretty shallow gamer to care about mini-games over everything else. I'm worried that Square Enix will not put any effort into the game because if they know it has mini-games, then all the original FFXIII haters will be like "OH IT HAZ MINI GAMES! FINAL FANTASY IS AMAZING AGAIN!" |
I think your being incredibly naive. I'll give you my own example using FF8.
When I think of FF8, when I really think of that game now after replaying it recently I dislike the plot and characters far more than FF13's and even FF12's. But FF8 was a great "game", the minigames (card game), huge world, excellently realised towns, vehicles, variety of things to do makes me still remember it as a good game. Had FF8 been a "straight line" in game design I would hate it more than FF13, as FF8 was in design like PS1 and SNES FF's I can still like the game and call it good.
I hope you understand what I mean, these diversions, minigames, NPC's, towns, they are not just needed in a RPG to add depth but they can end up making a game fun if other aspects are lacking.
JRPGs on home consoles are pretty much dead. If you're a fan of JRPGs then you can't be picky with what you get. I'm personally buying it because I loved FFXIII.
To everone going to buy this game. Do you like the way the FF series is going or would you rather have an old school JRPG? In terms of fighting, items/weapons, stores, more open world?
if XIII is a good JRPG, then Duke Nukem Forever is a stunning example of an FPS...
