That's the number sold to retailers (also known as "shipped" numbers). VGChartz tracks the number sold to consumers (also known as "sold" numbers).

So far, it looks like VGC numbers are pretty stinking accurate.

 

WHERE'S THE UPDATE FOR THIS?

I'm pretty sure they were using sold to consumers. They were quoting NPD, Media Create and a european tracking firm for their numbers.


Mmh VGC data is fine compared to NPD and MC, so the only territory where 3DS could have possibly sold better is EMEAA. But still, I don't think there the 3DS is selling THAT well compared to US. If adjustements happen (again), we'll have the answer.

No, by Christmas the 3DS will have been ten months on the market and the Wii hit that milestone sooner (in a little less than nine months).

That's a Shame.

Some nice positive record could have been a nice boost for 3DS.

Whenever those pesky 3DS is doomed threads are put up, everyone should just link with this thread. It really is a big "shut the fuck up" to the people who actually believe that the 3DS is doing a lot poorly than the DS.

It really annoys the hell out of me when a great console gets constantly bashed with untrue arguments.

I know a late response but my reaction counts for everyone in this thread.   Many even Nintendo fans called the first year sales of the DS troublesome, in fact after the first year people really start to believe DS could fail and that PSP could pwn it...    While it is for sure an achievement that 3DS will sell more than DS in his first year it rather gives me a bad taste...

Anyway I really enjoy this thread and hope that the graps will get updated occasionaly =p (could use them).
