Forums - Nintendo - Free E-shop games for existing 3DS owners?

Hmm... decisions, decisions. Wait for the 1/3 price drop, or buy it for 200 euros and get 20 VC games.
Need more information on the European price drop.

Seems like the price drop in Europe isn't defined, the same problem as with the launch price. Nintendo says it lets the retailers decide.
I don't believe they will lower it too much. The 3DS is already 190 euros on Amazon, it might be 170-180 at the end.

edit: I've broken the Forum Buddy by quoting myself xD

lol hahaha

OT: I think the price is very steep and never thought it would come so soon. At first I was angry as I had just bought the system when Zelda came out but now with the free games and thankfully there are some of them that I want I am good again :D

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

yea how the hell 10 free game boy advance games that no one else will ever get? hot damn

I knew getting my 3DS on launch day was the right thing to do. Funny how on the same day I get a 15% pay rise Nintendo offer me 20 free games. Life is good if your me.

This is a good move by Ninty, (hopefully) gets more people on eShop and maybe a few extra thousand system sales as well.

hmmmm. I would like NOA to say exactly what the price cut here will be. I'm assuming $100 based on past NA to Japan price relations.. but I'd like to know for sure before I consider taking advantage of this deal.

They've already stated it's going to be $80 for US, no news on the exact situation for Canada (will be a similar ~1/3), about 1/3 in Europe, and 2/5 (10000 Yen) in Japan.

I hope we get the whole list of games + confirmation on the new price [in Europe] soon. Getting it before the pricecut could end up being the better deal for me, which is somewhat funny.

Wow...
This plus the price cut is the pretty much reason they invented Bad Boys 2 in the first place

Should I wait or get the free games? Those 10 GBA games are especially tempting... I never could find a copy of Metroid Fusion back in the day...

Any advice?

Just ask yourself whether those games are worth $80. If not, wait until Aug 12th.

The only advantage to the GBA game deal is that on the 3DS, digital download is the only way you'll be able to play those games. I'd ride the assumption that those games will eventually be available to anyone who wasn't a "3DS Ambassador," contrary to what's been said, and wouldn't let that factor into the decision. It makes no sense to make those ports exclusively and permanently available to the 4 million or so current 3DS owners.

While it's nice that Nintendo is offering this consolaton prize to early 3DS adopters, I also take this as being an attempt to placate anyone who would be reasonably upset that the price of their $250 handheld has been dropped so drastically and so soon after release. That's spoken as one of those early adopters.

An excellent consolation prize for everybody whose had to put up with a lackluster launch period.
